Sorry to hear that your all black motorcycle build went south Ringo.

Glad to see you can take criticism. Or rather a 'differing opinion' at most.

I am greatful for any and all help and critisizm on this forme. But my mind is set on this build. It going to be ruged and mean Which is why I called it post apocalyptic. Plus we are living in the end days so couldn't think of a more fitting name. It will be different because it's mine!

Rad dude. I travel a lot skateboarding and do demos at different festivals where a lot of Hardcore bands play. I get to know a lot of the band members really well, they are really cool dudes. Have you listened to - For Today?

That's sick. I ride BMX, not as much as I used to (getting old)....kind of. But metal/hardcore/metalcore and so forth have always been my motivation. Going to shows, riding etc...

My sn is actually a bike company a friend and myself made years years ago. Midnite Bike Company. We had frames, bars, sprockets. DansComp & Albes sold them for some time. Could not keep up with the demand and cost. So it is on hold for the time being

Dang dude thats cool I have friends that ride pro for sunday, and animal. and others that are pro skateboarders and rollerbladers. I don't really Skate to much either. I moved to NY 3 years ago got married and have a son and I am only 23 right now. haha.

I got out for a bit today and scrubbed my engine today with some simple green. amazing difference with all that grime off!

I think I might want to take the engine out the frame and really deep clean it. still some grime in hard to reach places. would this be to much of a hassle?

I also took out the old header gaskets and put some new ones in. here is the tools that got it out. ;)

Also I am going to upholster my seat here is the material I will be using that is a huge leather trench coat. I wont need all the leather, so if any of you guys need some for your seat let me know dimensions and I will see if I can cut you a piece.

Shouldn't be too hard to pull the engine. The biggest hassle is not dinging the paint on the frame... You may want to have a friend help though. I don't know how much the 350f lump weighs, but lifting my 550 engine from the floor to the workbench contributed to my hernia for sure.

Yeah I figured that the weight would be an issue. I will not want to lift that thing by myself. Maybe I should pressure wash it in the frame? what are your thoughts?

I'd be leery of pressure washers. They can get water where it's really not supposed to be. Your wiring harness being a big one.

With the carbs pulled, I can clean things just about as well as with the engine out. Painting's another story though...

So I finally got some welding done. I shortened the hump brace that was in the rear back and re-welded it. then I put another brace in the middle. basically putting braces in the same places they where. I welded a pan for the battery and then sanded a little primed and painted.

Then after the paint cured I relocated the wiring the and made the battery cable longer using some 8 Gauge wire.
this is what I got.

I am waiting on a triple tree assembly, do to the one I have is non-operable. the Mod's continue.

Lets see if i can resurrect this thread.
I got this bike to the way I wanted her sit right in time for spring 2012
now in winter 2013 for lack of proper care or what ever reason I ended up with a seized motor.

time to take her to the operating table once again, but now to do it right.!

got her on the truck and off back home.

I decided to buy another engine for my make, so I can have a parts engine to borrow from!
$350 bucks shipped got me this!
photo-143_zps9b44b34d.jpg

I cleaned her up really nice. and sprayed her black.
gonna do flat black on the covers to off set the engine a bit.

next on the list.

1. Paint tank"DENT FREE" matte black with gloss black race strips down the middle
2. PAINT FORKS RUST FREE!
3. PAINT LEVERS.
4. PAINT RIMS.

MORE TO COME!

I have been super busy the last couple weeks, but managed to get some stuff done.
with plenty of ordered and panted parts. I ordered 4 carb rebuild kits, cleaned and rebuilt carbs with new gaskets.
I forgot to photograph. lame :p
I have some header crush gaskets and heat wrap planing on rewrapping pipes as one of the pipes ripped!
oil filter for the new motor.
with new oil pan gasket
new front tire tube going to install new front tire as I already installed the rear one due to an unexpected flat. I should have done them both at once but was to lazy!
painted some of the engine parts flat black to off set the gloss black of the entire motor.
and got a new top triple! I like the clean look opposed to the hunk of stock that was there. I put in new steering bearings in the
stem, man was that hell of a time!
also got myself a new rear hoop to welded on shortly.
rear sets need to be put on and adjusted. more parts need to be painted.
painted the forks flat black got some new gaiters.
still need to repaint rims, tank, and seat.

Man I really suck at documenting things!

oh well got my boots shined and re-laced!
