cb350g wiring help

Literally, every wire on the front end of my project 350 was twisted and wrapped with electrical tape. I've rewired the rear of the bike, so i'm tackling the front today and have a few questions because some of the wires on my diagram are hard to make out. I had to pull apart the switches and rebuild everything inside, and didn't notice all of this until I removed all the electrical tape.

Coming out of the headlight dimmer, there is:

*Solid yellow -PO had it wired to headlight - whereas my diagram shows it wired to yellow harness wire which connects to reg/rect/alt.
*White - PO had it wired to white wire (yellow connector) coming out of main harness. My diagram shows this solid white connecting to headlight.
*White/yellow trace - PO had it wired to solid yellow wire out of harness. I believe it goes to white harness wire (which i'm assuming is the white/yellow trace that goes to the alt. since the connector itself has a yellow shield - and my diagram shows a little yellow box).

Am I correct with the above thoughts?

Yellow to main yellow harness wire
White to headlight
White/yellow trace to white main harness wire (plastic shielding is painted yellow - appears to be factory)

Typically, white/yellow is power in from the harness to the dip switch, White is main beam and yellow is low beam or the other way round. Check the switch with a multimeter to see what connects to which other leads in what switch positions.

My battery has been charging so I haven't been able to verify, but these are the 2 versions I have found (one is Clymers, the other i'm not sure). Which leads me to believe that:
White/yellow trace goes to white out of main harness
Yellow goes to yellow
White goes to headlight

But according to both, the blue appears to be high, and white appears to be low,.

Could be right about that. I should have looked more closely to see that we're talking right switch block and it doesn't have the dip switch in it.

Try testing the leads with a multimeter. Set it to resistance and try one lead to say yellow from the switch and see what other leads that connects to in each switch position. Repeat for all the leads until you work out what they all do.

If that's the right Kill/starter switch, what other positions are in that? It looks like it may have the indicators in there too. The switch may have been replaced with a non original and the wire colors may not match. That's why I'd trace each circuit and if necessary, open the switch to see which wires go to which of the switches in that block.

That's Yamaha (or Suzuki?) colours, Honda use blue/white high/low
White and yellow is the bridge from alternator so you get full charge with lights on

Pj, solid white or white/yellow trace?

I went ahead and wired the white/yellow trace to the solid white coming out of the main harness. And the solid white out of the switch to the headlight. According to all the diagrams I've seen (including old man honda's).

Teazer, I rebuilt both switches today because they were in really bad shape. I wish I would have taken pictures before hand, but it is definately all original stuff. Just some asshat decided to try wiring for the first time in their life, before I bought it.

Solid white goes to the headlight and the white with the yellow trace goes to the white wire from the harness with the yellow butt connector. The diagram you need is the top one.
