Cb360 Build

Read over your schematic well, the black wires are KEYED HOT, the red is hot all the time. The green is ground. Make sure you have continuity from the negative on the battery to the frame and engine.

If you don't have power, best start at the battery and follow the red all the way to the ignition. Understand that the ignition switch has 3 positions, OFF, ON, and PARK. In PARK you will only have power to the tail light. Make sure your fuse box connection is in the correct plug and that the fuses are good. There are 3 plugs in that area that all look the same, but have different wires coming out of them. Fuse box, regulator, rectifier.

And yeah get a multimeter. :) maybe a box of fuses to. ;)
 
It was the damn key!!! Silly issue solved. Thanks for the advise, really appreciated

More progress. Tank has been repaired and primed. Time for paint

Get a broken indicator/21w bulb and holder and fit some alligator clips then use it in place of fuse
It lights up real bright if there is a short circuit and just passes current if wiring is OK

Summer's over. Back to the built

Figured out all of the wiring and finished a battery tray for under the seat today

Hopefully it will be rideable by next weekend :)
 
Finally went for my first ride!




It is extremely difficult to find neutral and the bike isn't switching into first gear. It felt like the bike was in either 2nd or 3rd gear... any ideas?

It was shifting through all the gears ok once you got her running way back when?

did you tear down the engine?

Did you fill her w fresh Rotella (blue bottle)?

You got the clutch linkage adjusted according to the manual?

i just had it running when i first got it, i wasn't able to ride it

The valve cover/side covers were removed, but the case never cracked

filled it with fresh oil - not rottella (generic 10w40 oil used for first start-up, will be changed again shortly)

yes, the clutch linkage was adjusted as per the manual
 
Is the 5/16" ball bearing still inside the clutch linkage lever/cam that pushes the rod? (under the left cover) Sorry, dont remember what all thats called.

If so, Sounds like you got all easy bases covered.
Well hopefully somebody w some real tranny knowledge chimes in soon, w a simple solution.
As nice looking as it is. It'll stink if you end up having tear it down. :p

Also, do you got hanger support brackets on the exhaust installed? :eek: I wouldnt ride it too much without them.
 
Yep. That ball bearing is installed. I distinctly remember dropping that ball while I was cleaning the clutch linkage and spending about 20 min trying to find it. Haha


I just had the mufflers temporary mounted up, I wanted to hear what they sounded like :)

Bike looks good.

Sorry to hear the trans issues, hope you get it figured out.
 
Maybe the clutch is still slightly off adjustment. The bike is a bear to shift into neutral if the plates are dragging at all
Before tearing down, I'd adjust the clutch again. Check out the sticky over at Hondatwins.net. in the cb360 forum.

What boggles my mind is that if I get the bike started in neutral then clutch in and push the shifter down it does go into gear no problem. But it engages 2nd or 3rd??

While moving, trying to shift either up or down does not result in a gear change. The bike stays stuck in the same gear
 
Are you sure its not actually in first and just running on one cylinder? Bogged down by running half the power.

Feel the headers and make sure theyre both getting hot.

Rear hub and disk keeping cool, not heating up by dragging?
 
Yep. Both cylinders are firing and nothing is dragging.

I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow and see if I can figure it out
 
So I finally started working on my bike again

Here is the current issue:

I'm trying to wire up a neutral indicator light but am having some issues with it. I have checked all of the wiring and narrowed down the issue to the switch. I pulled the switch out of the block and connected the light to the switch and a positive source. When I push the pin on the switch against a ground it turns on the light. So it appears that the switch is working fine. I made sure the bike was in neutral and that the switch was installed correctly in the block and still no light. Anyone have any ideas for me?
