Lookin sweet man. i hope mine looks that tight!

You gave up working on yours....you quitter. Geesh, now your partner in crime has nothing to do, now I gotta go off and find my own project.

Off to Rangeley I go today in search of cafe' gold, so I have something to do now that my local shop is closed for biz!!! :( :'(

Small update, thought it was going to be huge, but been caught up in school and work. So today I had time to work on it. I cut the exhaust and I knew everything was going way to smooth ( not a big deal), soo then I put the copper gasket in the exhaust collar and it still wobbles, I am definatly doing something wrong. I put a pic up if anyone can tell me if I am missing something or if I have some on wrong. But on a good note my exhaust is looking great so far. Thanks for any help.

The copper gasket goes between the head and the flange on the end of the exhaust pipe. They are the crush gasket variety that seal between the head and the flange. I hope this makes sense!

I also noticed you have the two collars around the wrong way. Trun them around so the tapered ends face the flange on the exhaust pipe.

Ohhh duuh, I didnt even put that into consideration. Thanks man hopefully tonight I will weld the exhaust. Thnaks again

Yeah copper ring into the head then the pipe then the two collar wtf ever they are things, the "flared" out side goes against the chrome retaining part into that grove in it. The smaller side pushes against the head pipe. I hate the terminology and the parts fiches are confusing. I can pull a side apart and take a pic if need be on mine.

Yea it was pretty confusing until you guys help clarify it. No need for a pic, but thanks very much for offering.

Finally an update, today I worked on my exhaust and got the headers done and a step closer to completion. I also been thinking about my sproket cover and how to chop it. I made the outline of it about a month ago and just now putting it up. the half cresent would be brass netting with cut out polished aluminum outline of it. and I want to chop of a little bit off the side. I think it will flow better, and a little extra weight off.

My parts from DCC and other places came in today, the headlight bucket from DCC, is super shiny and I am very pleased with it. The tank grips should work great too. Very excited to get it running, almost there.

Nothing like a nice shiny bucket. I took the same pic 4 years ago of my Lucas.

They are great looking headlight buckets, and looks trippy if you walk around looking into it. Is that the one on your XS?

Soo, today I bought 3 quarts of lemon juice wckhich one more would have been to much, good thing I'm cheap. But I saw a thread of Sonreir doing this and the results looked pretty good, so I gave it a shot and it works really good. It takes away the shine but it will be back when I start riding it. The carbs look super clean, I boiled them for 20 mins-35 mins. I can't wait for my carb rebuild kit to come in the mail so I can polish the float bowls and pit them back together. I also polish one of my forks a couple days back.

Looks like it worked out pretty well. I was happy with the results on my lemon juice test, despite the EXTREMELY weird smell.

Nice, man. I did this on my carbs as well and it worked out awesome. Sonreir, you're right. The smell is fucking bizzare. I did mine outside on the BBQ side burner and even that was whacky.
