CB360 Cafe Project

Ohh Shiny bits. Those look nice ;D

Did I miss the part where you removed some spacers on your front forks? What/where are they? My buddy has a cb360 and it woud definitely help his bike out. Thanks

Thanks, I added 2'' spacers under the damping rod, making them 2'' shorter and stiffer. I also cut the springs 1'' and plan on adding more spacers later on. I used electrical PVC pipe. Idk if this helped, but I hope it did

My YSS shocks came in today, I am really excited to make some simple brackets and put them on, just have to wait till monday.

Wow those look awesome! What size did you end up getting? And how much? I might get those as well. Can't wait to see what you do with them for mounting!

They were $100, and they are 280mm. Mounting the bottom should be really simple but the top might be hard, and I literally just figured it out, haha. I am going to chop the top mounts down and drill and tap them and bolt them on. I am not for sure if that will work but dont see any flaws right now. When I give it more thought I might find a problem. But till then thats what I am doing.

Actually I think I can just take out the top metal bushing and they will fit right on. I hope, it would make it quite easier.

$100 for the pair? That's a good price!

Are the existing holes on the top too small?

Yea but you have to wait 3 weeks to get them. I am pretty sure the top holes are too small, but if I take out the metal bushing I think they will work fine. I just got to go and try to put them on, but I have been busy at work lately.

I dont know if you already cut it up, but the sprocket cover is your clutch actuator as well. If you remove to much, it may flex(or break), and you will find, your already semi effective clutch actuator, makes a popping sound, as it rotates to far, and you lose your clutch. - this happens to mine and it is stock.

Eh, I have nothing but time :p . And I think it's worth it, they look awesome! I just want something that's not similar to factory shocks.

I wonder if the metal insert is one piece with the rubber? If that's the case, it might be a pain to remove it. If not, should be easy. Plus, the rubber can work as a bushing. Good idea!

I'm looking on their website now, which series are those? And did you get it from YSS directly? Because I can't find anything for that price :( .

uh oh, I hope I didnt do too much. I have seen people do worse so I thought my plans were good, but now I am a little scared. I guess if its not renforced good I will just renforce it more. Thanks for this information.

Got the off of ebay, there are all kinds of colors too, I just liked these the best. The brass will go good with the green that I am painting them.

Ahh ok. Which series did you go with? I did some searching around on their website and they do make them for old school hondas. I believe they're the 320mm though, with eye to clevis. And I don't remember, but I think the Bravo series is $120.

I honestly dont know, the place I got mine from didnt say much, but they might be the x-series but I am not sure. Just know that they are 280mm. I looked through the YSS website and couldnt find them.

I was about to buy this cb500t tank from a guy locally for $80 and I thought it might be too good to be ture, and it was, I went to go check it out and it had a nasty dent in the side that was pretty bad, rust inside, and which can all be fixed, but I noticed the bottom and the rusted out. At this point I was already eye balling one on ebay for 110 shipped, which it was super nice for that price. So I offered the guy 90 bucks and I won it and It came in today and looks great, the gas cap is still nice and the inside has been cleaned, and literally no dents or dings just bad paint and surface rust, which is expected. And now I have 3 honda emblems. :)

I bought some aircraft remover in an aerosol can, which I have never used before, and I highly recommend it. It gets good in the crannies and easy and fun ( to me ) to apply. The tank has about 2 minor dents, that will be easy to fix.

Nice work. I have found the non-aerosol aircraft remover to be significantly more effective. It comes in a quart size tin, like paint thinner, and you just paint it on with a chemical resistant brush. Works magic everytime. Burns like hell if it splatters on you though ;D Also, you can just wash it with water which is super handy.

That tank is going to look great with your bike.

Thanks, and yea I thought the stuff in the quart was more effective and it doesnt foam up, and you can just lay down some thick coats of it. The spray is more fun, and thats about it, ahah. But they just had a gallon to the paint store I went to and didnt want to drive somewhere else and wanted to try this stuff out. Aggreed that its not as effective as the brush on, because it would have been striped by now.
