CB360 - Penelope

Neat carrier! I've seen the others that you roll bikes up onto them but always figured that would be a PAIN.

Rich, he's got a safety pin lock in it that will hold it up when traveling.

Good eye Frogger. It's an awesome rack, I just didn't want to see it on the evening news or anything.........

Any updates on this kick-ass build?
I agree...this build has been sitting in the bottom half of my bookmarks list for way too long.
Wat da fuck is up?

I really appreciate you guys kicking my butt, but sadly, nothing to report. Good news is that I will be getting back to work again soon! Once work slows back down (show car season is almost over) I will have shop access again.

Here is our latest creation:

We don't design it, we just make it come to life and manufacture it.

First order of business is to add 3" to the swingarm...which pretty much means, make a new one. After staring at her way too much, she is too squatty.

Then a big step would be starting the titling process all over again. After getting married and moving in with my wife :) , all of my documentation (which wasn't much to begin with) has managed to disappear.

I still have the funds and a slight bit of hope, so this bird is far from dying! Just keep pestering me and it's bound to get finished!

Looks like there is a company called Ultimate MX Hauler that is building a version of your hitch mounted lift and the lift mechanism looks identical to yours.

Is this your company?

Shhhhhhhhh!! Not mine, I actually just took strong influence from that design. But customized it so that it can fit my truck with the tailgate down. I respect them for what they have done, but $650 is a little steep for me. I built mine for labor hours and $40 in materials/ scraps from work.

Not quite at the stage in life where I own companies yet...maybe someday.

Happy to read that you will be lengthening the swingarm! I was looking at it saying , man that needs a 3-4" SA stretch! :p

Welp, a bunch of great news, in my books at least. I now have a CA title in the mail on its way to me ;D

It took 2 trips to the DMV and 1 to the highway patrol for a VIN check, but overall the process was quite painless considering I had no previous documents showing that I owned the bike. All for a total of $63!!

And on top of that, Penny and I had our first ride with her fancy new home-built carrier. She still sits crooked on the back because of the balance of weight, but I need to get that fixed. I was nervous as hell driving around with it, but it did great! I actually couldnt even tell that it was hanging off the back.

And lastly, the boss at work gave me permission to commandeer a little storage room in the back of the shop! Penny now has a new temporary home where I can actually work on her. I am finally getting motivated again to get back to work!

Cool! I had a similar experience with my title except there is a guy I know who will take care of all the DMV work for you for $25 a trip. I went to the CHP and had the VINs checked. You're right, pretty painless, considering.

Kudos on the shop space too!

With the help of the DMV appointment system (greatest idea they have ever had), I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes. But yeah, I am excited and motivated again

Sweet! Any updates? Im dreading doing the title on my bike.. In my case, I have a title but its in another name and also filled out to another buyer that isnt me.. I guess this guy just never mailed it in or something. Theres not telling what ill have to do.. Im not looking forward to it.

Welp, I have ever so slowly been making process. My wife has become tired of here me complaining about not having a bike to ride so she has instated "Motorcycle Monday's" where I am forced to work on Penny after work....some motivation is coming back, but it's not like it was 3 years ago!

The rear shock is now much softer with the extra leverage, which is great!

Here is the swingarm with another 3" on it.

Removing the old coped round tubes (fun!):

I added a 3" box section to the arms, and made new little ends for the round tubes. Welded it all back together, and this is the result:

I think it looks better, not nearly as squashed:
