Thanks for the tip Chris, your right alittle grip on the
inside would be a good idea. I had a Yamaha YSR80 back
in the day, man that kick arm would swing back fast. :'(
and thanks for the props guys.
Re: CB360 Project: Lucky 7even! Now the real work starts. (Kick arm mod! Dec 11)
Just a thought on the socket kick start... Instead of putting grip tape on it, could you tape off a couple strips and sand blast to give more traction? I've never sandblasted, so don't know if you'd be able to get it rough enough to give grip, but if you could it'd look a whole lot cooler then black tape, imho.. If you were really meticulous, you could cut diamond or square relief's into it with a hack saw or dremel... I shouldn't be suggesting all this, might want to do it on my own build! ;D

Thanks for the motivating words, and jeep28guy thanks for the idea, I'll have to look into it.
Not to much done this evening, just repainted the HONDA on the cover, cleaned it up a bit, put the cover on to see how she looks.
Here's a pic.

Id just tough out the pain rather then working on it too much. Perhaps some dremel grooves. Or you could tap in some little stainless allen bolts into it for traction...maybe even just a few on the end.
Your engine looks better then new. Autosol? Jebus thats grand

Dude, he's building a functional machine here. The best design functions the way it should AND looks great. If I bought that bike and that kick start busted my shin a few times that socket would be gone. Art and design are different things

Thanks Curbcast, on the case covers I've been using a buffing wheel on my drill with cutting compound. their was and still
is alot of pitting and groves. But I kind of like it. :-\
The tap in some little allen bolts would look great, thanks

I think if, as Chris f. said, you put grip tape or something similar on there it would still look good and it would be understood that that was there to serve a purpose. All the other ideas are good too though as far as grinding etc.

Im on the allen bolt kick cause I just got some myself. They are really small, you can see as those wings are my gas tank emblems. They look like little jewels too me. Im not sure if theyd do the traction trick...but I couldnt see why not. Perhaps tapping would be hard though.

Just a small update, finshed cleaning up the engine cases, managed to do a little self repair on the ebay welder ;D
and weld up the rear fender mounts. Next lacing the wheels, not sure if I should do the rims gloss black or semi gloss? Here's a few pics.
Re: CB360 Project: Lucky 7even! Now the real work starts. (Small update Dec 19)
Looking good!! The motor looks great! Chrome is mint! I'm a big fan of bobbed front fenders but that thing looks really good. I would go gloss on the wheels. This thing is so shiny you don't really have any matte going on any where else.
