Been Around the Block
I'll keep it short, 1976 CB360T. New plugs, new battery, used to start in first kick and electric start would work too. Now electric start does nothing but make the dash go dimmer, can kick it as much as I want with no results. Bike was running fine as of 20 minutes ago but as I got closer to home it wouldn't idle and I had to keep it at around 1800 RPM at the stop lights to keep it alive. I suspect alternator but I did checked it, used the multimeter, recorded the voltage at idle (around 11 volts) and when rpm increases the number goes to around 12-13V. This checks out no? What are my other options? I just bought the bike, service records state that a year ago the wiring was re-done and the R/R replaced. So I'm really stumped here.... Shed some light on this oh cafe gurus?

You def have a low battery which could explain what's going on. Do you put it on a trickle charger?

You need a new, new battery and the factory cover for the battery.

I suspect your sitting on the seat is grounding out the positive post to the bottom of the seat.

Upgrade to a Speedcell while you're at it.

A new battery doesnt always mean a fully charged battery + a 36 year old starter in dire need of a rebuild = no go.
Also, did you start her up and ride 20+ miles @ 5500 rpm w minimal stops? Or, did you fire her up in the garage a couple times letting her idle mostly, then zip around your community, slowing or stopping every few hundred yards?
And, she needs NGK B8ES plugs w 10 ohm resistor caps. Do not run resistor plugs...(NGK BR8ES)
Did you find 6th gear?
How bout posting a pic.

Will post a pic later after my MRI. I ran her for 50 miles from San Francisco to Santa Rosa, I've got the right plugs and caps. And no I couldn't find 6th gear... Thanks for all the input, hopefully I can figure this one out...
