Finally Updates! I Just ordered a Marving 4-1 Race exhaust from Monsterparts.com. It's a custom order from Italy so it's probably going to take a month and a half, but it's winter. That's what winter is for. It's also a really good deal compared with ordering from a company in Europe. I'll keep everyone posted on how that turns out.
I've also picked up some controls. They're from a late 70's CM400, but it looks like they'll work. My only problem right now is that I've got drag bars, which I think look really cool, but they're so low that the banjo on the master cylinder hits the fork tops. I think with a more angled banjo bolt, I'll be able to make it work. It will be under the gauges and behind the headlight bucket anyway.
I got my first of two big Dime City ordres in today. The first are new gauges and headlight mounts.
The gauges look really nice. The chrome/stainless look great (don't know if it's chrome or not. Looks like it might be polished stainless) and the face is a nice looking matte dark graphite color. Not quite black. It looks really good.
They come with brackets, but there isn't a good way to mount them to the existing holes, so I started sketching a bracket. They'll be about an inch apart, and pretty close to the key.
This was the first rough cut, just to see how much room I have, and where I wanted them.
Based on my measurements, I sketched out a pattern, and transfered the measurements to another piece of aluminum. The bracket that comes with the gauges is above. I might have to get myself a small drill press.
Those gauges are nice, just what I want they sure look good. Your drafting skills look top notch as well.
If you get a drill press you wont regret it. Not only are they are great for drilling straight, clean holes but you can use a sanding disc for surface work, a sanding drum to clean up edges and much more if you think outside the box...
I need a bigger drill bit to get it over the drive thingy threads.
What it looks like on the triple clamp. Still have to clean it up, and I'm a bit worried that I don't have enough clearance between the bolts that will hold the bracket to the triple clamp and the housings.
I broke my foot at the end of summer and am still in a boot, so I haven't been in the garage much in the last few months. I do have some nice wheels I've laced up though. I'll see if I get them posted.
