Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( OOPS in love with a tracker ? )

As the old dutch say "the bullet is through the church"

My desicion has been made.....

Bought me some Renthal bars. as below

And an old original seat.
want to use the stock pan to make a new seat.
Thinking of buying a original style cover, but mount it with about half of the foam. like the seat below, or if possible even lower.

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( OOPS in love with a tracker ? )

Small Update:

Got the engine back from the soda blasting guy...... :D
And gave it to my nephew again in the same week.

He's going to do a "topend overhaul" valvelapping, new stem seals, new gaskets, new piston rings ( worn to 0.6 better to replace them now )

Got me a Alu fender for the back.... still figuring out how to mount it, don;t want to cut it off to short.
Better wetter coming up, I want to have her outside, to see the total picture. to dark and to tight in the shed to get a good overview.

Her's the engine in the back of my car, nearly did not fit .... damn european cars, I will need to buy me a Ford F150 RAPTOR 1 day... ::)

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( Engine re-mounted )

Been messing with the double front brake yesterday evening.
Just need to make bolts the corret lenght and do some shaving on the speedo pickup.

While assembling the new caliper seal and put back in the piston, I noticed I am missing the "mushroom" thing which on my other caliper fits in the piston.
Do I need to have this ? or will the piston push the block just as good without ?
Will i get in trouble due to missing some inches, and pop the piston out eventually ?

EDIT:
Forget about it found the part :) :) :)

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( Engine re-mounted )

Been fidling with the double front brakes.
Got all the parts, and I adapted the speedo pickup.

But what is the correct order to build them on ?

If i mount the arms and calipers, the wheel will not go through....
If i mount the wheel first, I cannot mount the caliper, as the bolts need to be accessed from the wheelside ... and that is where I now have the double disk which blockes the access to it......

hmmmmm what to do... mount the caliper on the arm, and try to bolt the entire thing on ?
In that case, how to access the adjuster bolt ?

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( Getting things done )

Front brake trick is: first mount the lefty, put the wheel in, and have the reght hand caliper drop over the disk, and mount the bolts afterwards...
Needs some small fingers, time, and anger management... but it's on ! ::)

Looking for parts for the exhaust now, as I do not use the original "clamp-on" exhaust.
Need to get the mounting part from a K7 model and fortunate it seems I found them via the dutch CB four club already ;D

I think we can have a test start-up when the exhaust is on !

Also started on "the spaghetti" in the headlight.
Took just about an hour to get all sorted out and working :-X biggest issue was me not having put the ground to the frame yet..... duh.

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( Getting things done )

Today I bought a taillight from a moped ( Kreidler ).
It matches the shape of the original, but is much smaller 8) I like.

I taped it to the rearfender for mock-up, and also did this with the exhaust I had bought.... never knew it was this short..... ::) but I like the look big time !

Also I had a mini heart attack..... :-\ I moved the bike back into the shed, and put a small piece of wood under the stand, ( i always do, and always this specific piece ) when I got back an hour later, the bike had fallen over :-[ fortunate, no damaga to the tank, or coated parts, but i do now have a whave in the bottom "fin" of the cilinderhead...

a picture from just before that happened

If so I will consider this a badass scar, we ended up with racing the streets

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( Getting things done )

She runs !

Got her fired up yesterday, man that feels goooood.

Foto-P3X6NM6L-D.jpg

got some minor oil leaks which I got ficed real quick.....

now it's just getting the front brakes bleeded, and off for a testride

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind Almost done

I'll just keep posting for all the "readers not repliers" ::)

Okay, so it was "just bleeding" the brakes right ?
Damn what a hell of a job that is with double brakes.... took me almost a whole day, need to retouch the paint on a caliper, and still it is not 100%
Due to the reaction arm etc, there is a lot of "movement" in the system. Also new brake pads need to "run in" to the disks etc.

In the meantime it did touch up the tank emblems ( boy are those expensive new ! )
Foto-UULFP3ZE-D.jpg

And today I mocked up an Aluminium front fender.... I like it !

Foto-K7AAIUCE-D.jpg

In the last picture you can see I also now mounted the original seat back, instead of the Giuliari.... not sure yet if it is a keeper, but a do like the rougher look. Not as "polished" the look was too "as it should be on a café" ( I don't like the "you need to have a clubman, and a seat with a hump, no fenders etc otherwise it is not a café" attitude )
Although the original seat is very "bulky" or high if you will.......

A well let's see how the bike will evolve when riding 8)

Re: CB750 K6 Dutch Barnfind ( She Runs ! )

Does anybody know if Greg Hageman used an original seat on his Brat CX ?
Or is it modified ?
I does look like an original CB750.... ::) but "leaner"

I like this look 8)
