That's excellent, hopefully mine will be alright as well. Pic would be great if you can, thanks.

Re: My CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

Right on I needed to know about the side stand. I was thinking of grinding that tab off completely as its ugly. Then building a new one, but if theres no issues I may leave it.

Thanks funk. I found a 26 piece set online, might get that one. Cheap shipping.

sweeet

Cool, let me know what its like man. When you go in tell them you heard about it from Pat Rodriguez.

New stuff!

Used some copper (will be replaced with alluminum) pipe to make a sleeve to house the brake light switch: the spring looks gnarled I know, its getting flipped to flex correctly - Just temporary.

Finished the brake side rearset, and installed all the new turn signals:

Built a mounting bracket for the original tail light to fix it to the seat pan as the fender is gonzo:

I didnt get a pic, but I trimmed that triangle down to contour the top of the light so you cant see the bracket at all:

Im going to tuck it up there even further. When I do it ill take pics and show how it is attached. I quite like the little idea. Light and it works!

We also did the bar-end mirrors, and some other thangs but I forgot to take pics - Will have more soon! Was gonna do the seat but my damn mat got wet, so its drying out.

OH AND! Anyone ever used these Redwing shocks? Theyre unadjusted but these things are really lightly dampened. Not very stiff at all... Just wondered if there was something to it?

Also, anyone have any ideas for the tabs that stick out from the rear under the seat that used to hold the fender and the works? One slot is holding the tail lights but theres those nasty tabs hanging out from the bracket that mounts the seat pan.. Ideas needed!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

sorry but that tube to house the brake switch has got to go. looks so ugly next to those pretty rear sets. find another solution PLEASE.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

Oh and also, the pipe holding the brake light switch will be slotted in the back to conceal most of the hose clamp, so youll only really see the sides. Should work slickly!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

I just put what look to be the same shocks on my R5. I noticed the same thing, I did adjust mine almost all the way up and they do stiffen up a bit. I haven't ridden them yet though.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

Yeah man, Im gonna make a nice little capped alluminum housing identicle in dimension, but the hose clamp will be hidden and the thing will be made out of alluminum and not copper - that there was to see if it would work, and it does.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

why not put the brake switch underneith the gas tank zip tied to the frame rail somewhere and run a cable up to it to pull it? ive seen it done before and you can conceal it way easier.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

forcefanajd : Nah man - Im gonna go with proximity. Im sure there is a lot of tolerance in how you can route that thing, but I like the idea of using it closely to how it was intended in a way it wasnt. The pull and spring is perfect right there, and I think cased in a cool little alluminum tube, itll be rad.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

ill have to see the aluminum tube you come up with ;) maybe knurl it?

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

Wow man! Your kicking this bikes ass! Looks great! The knurled alum. idea sounds killer... Sorry, dont know much about Redwings.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER!

Haha mike I wish man! All the big stuff has been omitted (motor, carbs, exhaust, tuning!!!!) spose ima just leave that to the pros though.
