Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (DONE..for now. VIDEO!)

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

Ahh yeah man! the headers there! Yeah Im gonna leave them tan - as Im going to have the seat upholstered in a tobacco brown leather so I figured that plus the orange would be a compliment to the natural colored wrap.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

Nice man. The off white wrap is killer looking when it ages, and your right, it will look great with the paint. Looking forward to getting together with all the WestPenn guys here this summer. Long live the little bikes! :D

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

Wow, looks like your progress picked up some speed! Nice polishing going on there!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

Thanks fellas - The polishing is OK at best. The hub came out really nice, as did the front brake and tree, but I think Im going to repaint the side covers, and leave the polished stator and oil filters covers for a matte/polish look. My sprocket cover does NOT want to polish up however. Ive gone at that piece for the longest amount of time and its milky as hell, as you can see. Ill keep at it. I didnt want to spend TOO much time polishing though, since the stuffs just gonna get crudded up again. pretty shiny is shiny enough for me! As my grandfather used to say about sheet metal work "its good enough for the people who live here!" - typically in a family members house. HAha. Ive adopted that philosophy about this little bike. Cant wait to ride it!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

Thanks Joe! Cant wait to get my parts powdered though bro! My Dad keeps telling me "When are you having that guy paint these parts - thats gonna decide whether this bike is nice, or shit." hahaha

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (New Pics!)

That bike looks like garbage-- It would probably look better if you listened to your friend in the hoodie. Or purchased the correct size fork seal.
I feel sorry for the guy who had to leave his bike in the snow; with you consuming his garage space all winter.

Where's the rest of the pictures? You should probably post more.

Yeah JFish, what's up out there in the Burg? Did you lose the garage in the snow?

Spring's right around the corner - forget about that silly groundhog.

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (DONE..for now. New Pics!)

Alright guys - So its been awhile but I never stopped on the bike.

Heres how she stands now. Since we last talked - Several things were done. The exhaust was finished (the heat shield still needs to be trimmed and painted). The shocks were rebuilt, headlight brackets installed, new charging system installed, new points, new condenser, Dynatek coil, seat pan was narrowed and riveted and now upholstered (in the scrambler style)... and of course countless other little things that took forever.

She runs AWESOME. Sounds like a sport bike with these pipes on there - It still amazes me how deep and throaty the 175 is.

beautiful JFish! killer looking bike!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (DONE..for now. New Pics!)

Heck yeah Jfish! I like how it still holds the vintage look to it even with the updates. Got a better side profile shot (especially the exhaust)?

And if you need new cables (or anything really), give my man Les Barker a call: 1 360 699 4964. The guy is a genius with these old Honda's and hooked me up twice now!

Re: Copper Pipe Customs - CL175 Build Thread - THE TIGER! (DONE..for now. New Pics!)

Thanks yinz!

Rich - I decided after all the back and forth, that what I like about these old bikes is the way they were intended. Ive got this thing in tip top running shape, while maintaining the original allure... I think I can call it a success ;) The seat was a debated topic, but Im really glad I decided on a more conventional scrambler seat - goes better with the standard look of the motorbike. Im thinking about thinning out the foam a little bit, but its so comfortable now that its big and fluffy - and considering we narrowed it, its even MORE comfortable.

As I said though - Its done for NOW... I get the feeling that it wont be too long until Im stripping it down again and doing something else. Although I think it should serve its purpose as a fun scoot as is!
