DO THE TON - Barber Vintage Festival - Alabama October 7-8-9 2011

The dates for next year haven't been announced yet (and probably won't for another couple of months), but if it holds true to the last couple of years (second weekend of the month), it'll be Oct. 12-14, 2012.
That's the dates that I'm banking on anyway.

Cool.Thanks.I'll keep an eye out for the dates.

I'd highly recommend anyone booking hotels do it now - you can book hotels a year in advance and typically no cancellation penalties so long as you cancel the day you're supposed to actually arrive.

Maybe I can sleep in Kiley's new shop, I mean.....he WAS supposed to be putting my new apartment in there anyway.

Cool vid Tim, glad you noticed camera had moved, it would have sucked to video 20 mins of mostly sky
Some of that looked 'quite fast' ;)
Wide angle lens 'slows' things down by about 30~40 mph 8)

Well when my speedo is pointing dead ahead, that's 80. We broke 100 on the last straightaway, which is where I passed Kiley last year.

The intersection we pass at 15:45 or so in the previous video is the one Kiley and I started from last year riding in from his place:

CB400 vs XS650

Any public camp grounds around the area?Preferably one with a bath house because the GF and kids will be with me.

Deal. It's getting roofed soon. Got a lead on some corrugated metal this week...only deal is something must be wrenched on in there before you come out! Lathes and mills welcome!

You can camp right on the festival grounds if you want.

For $100 you can get a 20x20 foot swap meet spot, bring stuff to sell and camp right on that spot. It's in a convenient area of the park close to the 'real' facilities (actual buildings with flush toilets etc.).

I'm not so sure about the other camping areas inside the grounds - haven't done it. I usually travel with a friend and this year was holed up in a nice hotel with some of the other guys who were 'working' at the show. Probably the same for me next year. Camping isn't conducive to getting up at 6AM and then standing on your feet for 12 hours at the show, 3 days in a row.

I think camping is definitely the way to go.. unless of course you're as cool and important as Tim. Check out the pic at the top of page 47 of this thread. Our bikes, tent, and van setup in the grass surrounded by other bikes, tents, campers, vans, clown cars, you name it... We we're ~200 yards from the track. People stay up late around there (not too loud) drinking around the fire.. You're sure to get an invite to have a seat and a beer at some point. People checking out each other's bikes. It's kind of a neat community. Very family-friendly. Only downside is proximity to the proper toilets / showers.. a good 15 min hike... But that's why you brought your bike, right?

Downside #2: 7 year olds hot lapping around the camp on their mini bikes at 6 AM. I'm bringing a paintball gun next year. ;)

Next year I'm recruiting people to staff the booth so I can go snap up the good deals at the swap meet and hang out with the cute girls (Swagger's bringing a calendar's worth).

Matt's on the 8AM - 2PM shift Fri/Sat/Sun ;)

I'll sign up for a shift of hanging out with chicks. Taking one for the team.

I'd better start auditioning talent this weekend!
(what I'm willing to go thru for you guys......)

I should be back next year so I'll sign up for a spot at the booth to make up for missing this year. But no morning shift as I'm a swap meet whore...

In that case, Tim ^^^, what kind of tank is that? Is it factory? Is it hard to polish? Does it vibrate and have auto nut warming feature? Sorry, I just need to know, I was trying to find one the other day at Wal-Mart.
