DO THE TON - Barber Vintage Festival - Alabama October 7-8-9 2011

I've thrown in the paperwork for a booth in the swap meet area - hoping it will work out for us. So gather up your parts - Go! is organizing things a bit on that end in another thread.

More announcements to come ;)

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

Can I sell rides on Gretta?

Seriously, I think this is a great idea...now if we can get Swagger out here with a mill and sell custom machined bits made to order....get em while they're hot! We can even wrap them in foil and put them in a hot dog basket!

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

Now you're talkin!

Anyone have any pop-up shelters we could put in the space?

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

Yep, I have a couple too, One huge one that we use for the AMA races.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

Its looking more and more like I will be treking down to barber. As soon as I know I'll let you all know. Happy to help with manning the booth etc. Looking forward to putting faces to all these user names!!

Cool Diesel, maybe we can coordinate and meet up to ride together, I have to ride right through Portland on my way, I plan to meet up with Beatnic in Pittsburgh on the way and ride down with him and some of the other PA guys too. We can chat some as the time gets closer. I have a few extra vacation days stored if I need to adjust travel time etc.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

I have a few parts and peices that I will bring to sell, Also Deviant1 is trying to get time off work to come and he is planning on selling a cb350 that is already a cafe racer for the most part.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

I am planning on bringing stuff. I would camp at the spot one night to help make sure nothing walked off over night.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

While I haven't heard from the folks at Barber, they did charge my credit card the fee for the booth, so it looks like we're 100% in for a swap meet space!

I think hanging out in the spot one of the nights might be cool - lots of the other people selling shit stay there - might be some deals to be made ;)

Sounds like we're good for pop-ups too - thanks guys! Maybe we can scrounge up a couple tarps or something to throw on the ground. The space is 20 x 20 altogether.

I'm still working on my vehicle, but it's looking like I'll rent a cargo van to haul the bike(s) down in and it may be that I can park it on the spot so we can stash the parts in it overnight etc.

I'm going to be busy with other stuff at the show.... :D so will be leaning on you guys to help keep things rolling at the swap meet.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

I have a few parts to put up for sale. May even put a sign on the water buffalo I bought last year.

Re: ATTN: Anyone Going to Barber's

It is 100% - we have a booth - just emailed back and forth with Jennifer, the fine gal who is organizing everything in the swap meet area.

So start cleaning off those rusty bits and get your masking tape out!

Re: ATTENTION! DO THE TON will have a booth in the SWAP MEET at Barber's

I have a 20'x25' tarp we can use for a ground cover.

Re: ATTENTION! DO THE TON will have a booth in the SWAP MEET at Barber's

I will not be selling anything, but I would be willing to camp at the spot at least one night to keep watch on people's stuff.

Yes, and I think we're coming down. Was gonna ask if the Clevelandmoto crew could rent space from you. We tried to get a booth and were told they are all gone. I'll let you know for sure.

Oh I'm sure we can make room :) It's a 20x20 space so we should be able to cram a lot of stuff in.

Last year we talked about getting a space more to just hang-out in. Even joked about hauling in a couch :)

As it turns out this year they're offering 20x20 special 'club' booths for $400 which includes 10x weekend passes, which are worth $40 each anyhow, but I don't know where in the festival area the booths are, and frankly, the swap meet area is the place to be :)

Hey guy's. This will be my first trip to Barber and was wondering if renting the golf carts is the way to go to get around the event. It'll just be me and my dad for the saturday and Sunday morning but don't know how spread out everything is. With a 6.5 hour trip this may save me some energy for work Monday morning. This is what we usually do when we go to the motorcross nationals. Thanks

Unless you're motoring all around the track, the golf cart would get in the way I think.

Not sure what they're charging for carts - if it's cheap enough it might be worth it and maybe someone would want to share the cost with you.

Tim,
It's $65 a day which isn't too bad. I know at the motocross races it's convienient to get around the whole facility let's say like from the swap meet to the race track. Then park it and walk around. I was just looking for guy's like yourself that have been there to check if it was worth having. I'd like to see as much of the place as I can in the short window that I have so if this will save me 6 miles of walking in one day then I'll try to do it. If you guy's say there's not enough place to walk 6 miles there then I'll can the idea. Thanks
