DO THE TON BOOK - First Edition - Photos & Specs needed....

Hey Everyone,

Bill aka: MBS, has offered to take the time to put together our first ever, Do The Ton - The Ultimate Cafe Racers Book, containing pics and build details of members bikes.

Bill will be using an on-line/on-demand publishing service but needs high-rez photos and details.
I wont go into all the details since Bill will be manging the content and layout of this project but some of the proceeds will goto supporting the the yearly cost of this board.

Rather than just randomly pulling images off some of the threads, I thought it would be more fun if the members who wants pics of their bike published, could submit a few of their best pics, (3 or 4 mabe?), along with a short intro and build/mod/history... how about 1 before pic & 2 after pics?

Tim and I will put together the Introduction for the book, co-written with MBS.

Anyhow, I'll leave to MBS run with this....

Hey everyone. First of all some thanks to Noel. I think this book will be totally awesome!! There are so many great bikes here on the site by so many talented and devoted people. I am really excited to see how this turns out. But this could be a very large project since there are potentially over 2,000 members here. Even if 200 members participate and submit 4 photos each for the book, that totals 800 images to keep track of. I would hate for someone's bike pic to get mixed up with the wrong owner. So to keep things organized I have set up an online file drop box. Use the provided link and put your first and last name in the field. Then upload your images (up to 4) and a short bio (up to 3-4 paragraphs) about you and your bike/build. Make sure at the top of your bio you include your email address so I can contact each of you if needed about your files, also include your DDT member name and your state, province, township, country, etc. I don't need your mailing address just where your from to put in the book. I know some of us have more than one bike, so if you want ore than one bike in the book, select your 4 photos wisely. The pictures should be the highest resolution possible. Web photos are usually very low resolution (which is why we are not just picking them from the DDT site). Acceptable formats are JPG, PSD, and TiF files for the images, and the bio should be in MS Word or notepad or PDF format. By using the drop box a folder will be created under your name and contain only your files. I would like all submissions in by September 1st 2009. If you guys have any questions send me an email, I will be happy to help.

Also, I believe Carpy is putting a "Cafe Racer Gazzette" together, so keep a heads up on that as well.

Ya, I get Cafe racer Mag as well,its pretty cool. Carpy sent out a bulletin on myspace about starting a "Gazette" too, whice soubnds pretty cool.

Just a heads up the drop box is working perfectly, so far I have 4 images and descriptions from CanadaDan and Bill Anderson and each have their own folder as planned. For new submissions, it would be best if rather than using the description boxes for the images, if you could just put in a word file with the info it would be easier for implementing into the book. So please 4 images and 1 document. Keep it up guys, great pics so far!! Thanks, MBS
