"Do the Ton" rear sets - Lets do them cheap - No takers???

Instead of closing the thread, why not filter the thread and remove unnecessary posts and comments?!

ya cause i need rear sets and i dont feel like making my own or paying much for them....so is somebuddy building some or what? A set I can bolt onto my CB750 that does not need the passenger frame mounts would be nice please

dude... i dont htink we are gonan find a solution for $50 rear sets.

but bolt on here you go.. found this today

http://guzzino.com/collectibles.html $199.95

Your best bet for rearsets on a budget would be something like R6 or others where the lever pivots on the footpeg axis. With something like that all you need is a bracket to your individual needs. Wreckers normally have piles of stuff like that for cheap because all the squids auger their bikes fairly quickly. I just picked up two complete R1 front ends and another from a GSXR, all USD forks....complete with triples and axles for $250 total.

Perhaps this debacle of the thread could be redirected toward brackets for various bikes that can then be used with the owner's choice of rearsets. Most of the vintage style rearsets are already 'pivot on peg' so that'd be really simple.

Hmmmm........

If we can get a database of template designs put together for our bikes, saved in a format that anyone can take to a machinist, I think we'd be golden. In fact, once that part's done the rest is simple.

Here, here.

I think that is the answer. those who have the knowledge post plans that we can take to local shops and get stuff made.

I think that idea is a winner. And fyi: I can turn basic part prints into .igs or .dgk 3-D models pretty quick. If anyone needs that kind of stuff to take to a machine shop somewhere, I'd be happy to give it a go while I'm at work. just pm me the details and I'll try to help out

Having a shop mock up parts from scratch is not going to be cheap...better off adapting sportbike ones from Ebay or something if all of this is a money issue first and foremost

Id be interested in 1978 CB 750F rearsets,as nobody makes anything cool that would do away with the big ugly aluminum stock mounts on the bike. The brake side would be the challenge as the arm pivots in the alum. and not the frame of the bike.

There is a lot of good info in this thread. I'll be bookmarking this page for future reference.

I have access to Solidworks 2009 and I might have access to a mill so I can probably whip up a set pretty cheap. I have some 1/4" thick aluminum plates in the garage but after reading this, it seems like I should go thicker. My CL360 may get rear sets after all. :)

The .250" is more than likely great for the levers as long as it's 6000 or 7000 series alloy.
Hell for that matter, if you can make clean bends in it there's no reason why two pieces couldn't be sandwiched around a frame member to be more than adequate for the bracket.

Now that I think about it, I might have some 1/2" or 5/8" pieces too. Unfortunately I have no idea what spec they are. They have been laying around for years. The 1/4" piece is probably ~ 21"x18" and one of the thicker pieces is ~ 8"x12" and the other thicker piece is ~ 5"x6". It's nothing big but it is more then enough.

Hi folks!

This is what I've been posting in another forum some months ago.
Don't want to sound too commercially, esp. as I'm new to this
forum here, but perhaps it is of interest for some of you:

... a friend of mine got rearsets manufactured at our workshop.
They are supposed to be kind of "universal spare" e.g. for classic racers,
and he has already sold several of them at the race events we take part in.
