Been Around the Block
Hi guys,
Been on the forum for a while now, love the cafe side of it.

I'm Wayne an I'm from the uk, I'm more in to car builds but this time I'm on two wheels.

I've had many bike, all super bikes but now after a few years off them I thought I would go old school ;D

So I'm not in to long written build threads as I'm no good with spelling an numbers and it takes me forever!!

I'm a pics man so I let them do the talking , not cos I'm rude its just the best way for me!lol

The bike was a barn find 400xs se, kinda chopper like thing ???

Pulled to bits and started cutting the frame up, the rear end was much to wide for the look and the stance was all wrong so a new one was made from scratch

The tank has been stretched and the first stage of a seat was made from 2 part foam,

Oh I forgot to say , I'm a body an paint man so all this work has been done by me , I like to try an do it all in in a build, I like to b in control lol

After all that I forgot I have no pics on the IPad of the bike so I will get some up later.
In the meantime hear are a few of my hand build wide body Nissan 200sx s13, I moulded the body an sell the kits. Mine is the first pic an the other two are friends who I've done kits for

Just a few basic pics , got lots to do still but the frame is the main thing that's almost done with fab, rearset brackets an its nearly there for paint prep.

Still un decided on wot forks to go for, usd or original.

I wart the bike to be old school but with modern aspects :)

hi! nice to see another xs there!

i have one question, the rear shocks are originals from xs400se? because i have 4g5 and one rear wheel from 2a2

Hello bud,
Um to be honest the shocks were marked up as just Yamaha xs, there hagon ones,
The se runs a 17" drum rear wheel but the wheel I have is now the non se which runs a disc.
The frame has been changed a lot at the back so it looks like the shocks are slightly too short, there not its just how the frame kicks up higher at the back now.
New mounts were made to sit back in the original place :)

Hope that may help you a bit bud

Wayne :)

After many hours of cleaning the chosen color was satin black for the main an gloss black on the cases, nice and simple :)

Thank you buddy :)

A tiny bit more done today, I finally got the rearset brackets welded to the frame, I'm using k1 gsxr sets , just a bit of modern to go with the old :)

Haven't had to much to report due to house working stuff :(

I did however manage to move the bike for a better look at how it's guna sit, I'm really happy with the stance of it, looks fast sitting still

I had raised the rear of the new eat half of the frame to give it a nice bum up head down rake, I think I have got that!

Also still not 100% on wot forks I'm guns use yet, I do want modern parts on the bike so it makes sense to use these. I think lol!

Wayne :D

Sorry , poor quality pics but u get the idea, :)

Thank you mate ;) :D

So today I managed to do a bit more on the seat unit, it started off with a two part foam u mix and then watch expand to massive amounts lol,

Then I shaped the foam to a rough state, this morning I did some final shaping with a block and sand paper before laying two lots of 450g glass mat .

Once dry I can then pull the foam out and do some final finishing before priming :D

I'm happy with the morning work

Cheers Wayne :)

wow, yeah, that's looking REAL nice! is the 2-part foam you used suitable for a seat pad, or does it become too stiff?

No mate, the foam is basically a shaping foam, once dry in like 10 mins it goes hard, but it is so so easy to shape.

I'm Guna use race seat foam which I may cover depending on the final look of the bike :)

Thanx guys , yea I just like to try and do things how the manufactures would do it in like a factory option, an just to be a bit different :)

Cheers Wayne :)

The on going seat lol, so after covering it in glass I then started to mess around with some filler, the plan was to just tidy the glass and go with it but I've put quite a bit of extra shape in an a few small changes in , it's Guna need moulding now to pull a fresh part :)

I still have some work to final finish ready for primer but the basics are now there.

I was unsure how to sit the seat,on top of the frame or let it cover it,it's going on top with the rear of the frame running in line with the slant of the seat at the back, once the fine detail is finished it should finish the rear quite neatly :)

Cheers Wayne :D
