Dust monkey cafe xs 400

Thank you mate :)

The forks are of a little aprilia 125.

I figure the bikes Guna weigh nothing so I didn't want to go to mad on the forks.

Also i think they should bolt right in with modern taper bearings with no machining , time will tell ???

Cheers Wayne :)

Lol, Thanx mate :D

I do have a small update, my worst bit, wires!!

After many hours of head scratching an coffee I now have a fully working electrical system

I'm getting the starter to klick in so the only thing left now is the motor .

So in the pic u can see I have made all the mounts to re fit the electrics under the FAKE stretch of the tank, fits lovely, only thing I will need to make sure is there's enough air around them to keep cool 8)

Oh an happy new year to you all :)

Cheers Wayne

You know, If you buy a stretched Fat Bob tank, that's how they do the stretch, too. They just box it in so you THINK you have extra fuel capacity...

Cool, I recon its a neat idea to do it like that. 9 outa 10 times its for " the look " so if it can be made practical as well then all the better ;)

Had a few hours on the bike so I carried on with the wires !

I'm not going all chopper style but I do want to make the bike as neat as possible so I'm hiding as much wiring as I can, just need to run a seam of mig around the holes for some added strength and a bit more metal to take the sharp away ;)

An I'm still not sure on the forks , new school , old school, uuurrrrrgggggggg! :-\

Cheers Wayne

Still on going with electrics,I decided not to go with modern switch gear , but to re vamp the old stuff

First off was to strip and clean all the workings inside, I actually really enjoyed this and the satisfaction once all clean and working was awesome :D

So to maybe just knock a few years off them I got rid of all the recesses were the wordings sit and to just kinda make them smoother.

It worked :D , a coat of 2k primer , a flat down then a few coats of epoxy satin black

The next stage was to sort the loom,I found this real nice loom sleeve stuff lol

It's a woven plastic , just like braded break line but it expands or shrinks as u pull or push it, so it shapes its self over your loom, it's also very expensive :-\

The results are awesome , fresh , new ,and just another small attention to detail which always helps,

I will post up some during pics but for now , the end result

Cheers Wayne :)

Having a slight change of plan now with the forks, after much thinking I'm Guna go back to the Oem forks .
I think if I was going with a bigger swing arm the usd forks would have flowed a bit better with the kinda newer look , but after looking more an more I'm Guna go back to stock.

I am how ever going to clean up the yokes buy " boxing " them in, it will hopefully still give a slightly cleaner and modern look.

I hope to inter grate the speedo in to this to. ;)

Cheers Wayne :)

Cool build mate 8) well into watching this to the end great ideas bet this project gonna be first of many :p and plenty of time while our UK weather is so crap :'( haha thats my excuse to hide away in the workshop ;) great pic's so far keep up the good work mate

Phat13, I would make sure you have a grommet coming in/out of the frame with your wire like that. It will most likely vibrate and make it's way through the cable jacketing, which would not be cool (unless it was a grounding wire...in which case...go ahead!)

Otherwise keep it up, I dig this project.

Yorkie, thankyou buddy,
I would love this to be the first of many , an yea our weather stinks!!!
This is a slow build due to funds but we will get there.

Were u from Yorkie

An Bruno, yes I hear wot u mean, the plan is to build some weld up around the holes and then soften the edge back, then a few layers of heat shrink so it's all tight an snug :0)

Fingers crossed lol !!

The disk is actually a Ducati 748 , not sure on the diameter , 320mm maybe ???

I do know they use the fzr but I just want a little different , I'm also Guna use the calliper as well 8)

Bruno, thank you mate :) it's alway nice to have more than one pair of eyes scanning over things . :)

Cheers Wayne ;)

Mr MJ :) , well I started off with gsxr k1 sets which u can see in the pics ,but I only had the one ,
I found an old set of Suzuki srad ones in the garage which I'm going with.

They actually work better as the bracket just looks like it follows the frame better.
Lol they just look better :D

A pic for ya ;)
