Ever get the itch for a "modern" bike?

eyHonda. Did we meet at Mid-Ohio? Did your Duc fall off of the trailer?

Yup! Good eye & memory! That was me. I was going to post the incident but there is nothing to even show. Wow, that was a heart stopper! One of the eyebolts snapped and my Duc tipped over on the trailer. My sons saw sparks and pulled over right away. The handlebar end and my Givi was dragging on the highway while the rims were still on the trailer! Only damage was the bar end, the Givi grind marks, bent rack and a couple small scratches on the front rim (maybe from the tiedown buckle). Hard to believe..

Who was there again? There was about 5 guys from DTT there. It was cool to see faces from this forum. Unfortunately, I had to rush off to hang with my boys.

I think you were there talking to DreadRock, VonYinzer, Maritime, BradJ, and I. As well as a few others.

Id take one of these please. xjr 1300 haven't heard of one of those surprisingly. I am very close to offing my magna for a sport tourer or more sit up sport bike.

As much as I love cafe racers, (they'll always be my first love...), bobbers and vintage bikes in general, I believe you gotta have a few different bikes to truly enjoy motorcyling... This season, I'm riding 2 different gsxrs.. I dont even have a vintage bike insured this year... prehaps next season... Im still playing around with my BSA and Triumph. Although I have to say, Ive been riding much more than wrenching.

My 04 gsxr 750:

My next acquisition for next season, will be a 2008-09 Triumph Daytona...

Ive already begun collecting parts for it...

Yeah, triples are a nice blend between twins and fours.

For me, give me a modern cafe. I'll take a modified SportClassic:

Actually, I'll find one in pieces and just build what I want. Maybe, I'll put my Monster motor (DS1000) in a SportClassic frame and call it a day! Yup, my future project!

Thanks. Of course this isn't available here in the states. Now there's one more bike I can lust after and never own!

Ditto Mike. Man that bike is beautiful!

motorcycle manufacturers just don't seem to understand that there is a market between the super anime crotch booster and the beer belly cruiser. Stupid that its hard to find a nice well performing all around standard motorcycle.

that is why I have my third Ducati Monster. Just can't find a bike I like better. mine is the old style liquid cooled (S4Rs). The Streetfighter was too ugly for me, as is the Honda CB1000 and any kawasaki. I would look at a Triumph, but I would have to get rid of the two headlights.

Aprilia is cool, but too expensive, as is the MV. Plus air/oil cooled just looks better.

+1! I'm on first Monster (S2R) but it's the best bike for me too. I like the simplicity of air/oil cooled motor. In fact, my next car will be air/oil cooled! The awesome Porsche 993!

LOL. Agreed. On a regular basis, I hit all the major manufacturers websites and get disappointed. Yes, many of the new bikes are great machines, they just don't have the soul I'm looking for.

Ditto then I hit their Euro websites and see what we don't get and my disappointment turns to anger. I guess Americans only want heavy poor handling Cruisers or wanna be MotoGp replica's. That Yami could make one hell of a modern Cafe bike, and I'd be happy to buy one..are you listening Yamaha USA?

I started out on street bikes the day I turned 18 with the CBR900RR, followed by a 929RR, then the 954RR, then the 1000RR. Had a Yamaha Roadstar Warrior for a while as well, along with having extended time with a host of others including Ducati, Yamaha KTM and Harley-Davidson. I've had my share of modern bikes, and paraded through owning about a dozen pre-1970 bikes.
The only modern bike that really strikes my interest these days is the Triumph Bonneville Scrambler, but I have a bolt-perfect '68 CL450 that I have ridden many thousands of miles of road and trail on, so I'm not in a big hurry to buy one.

after having a few old bikes, I needed one to just get on and ride. and that is my 94 Ducat monster m900.
