Put some metal in yer eye....
I bought the bike off a Friend for a really good price. It was a Basket case. But only had 7200 orig. miles on the motor. Unfortunately it had been passed around for a while in this condition.
I had sold most of my parts by this time. Luckily I found a NOS bannana Wassel tank in the Loft of out local salvage yard. The owners and I are friends. He knew I didnt have much in the way of cash so he for the most part gave it to me. He figured it had been up there for 35+ yrs. So that's where it started.
I started the build about 4 weeks before I was leaving to deliver the cb400 down to So.Cal. and I really wanted to take something to ride my self. So it was on....
Frame is completely stock minus 4" out of the seat hoop. Mounted up some Marzoochi shocks and my wassel tank. I was stoked already!
Next I needed some wheels which I also grabbed from a friend. Some nice high shouldered Akronts. Fit those up and I had a roller.
Then I started on the electrics tray. My welder had taken a shit so the tray, and all other mods to the bike are done with Braze.
This is what I had after final mock-up.
Then I focussed on a few small details. Drilled the rotor. Installed a Brembo master cyl. and braded line off a KTM dirt bike. 6$ grips from bicycle shop. Tires dug out off the trash @ Salvage yard. Another home job seat. Some other things etc.
I did paint the tank. But it sprung a leek at a seem and f'd it all up. Bummer....
Thats all folk. I finished in time to take it to So.Cal. Loaded it up. Unfortunately left the ignition on and fried the points and couldnt ride it once I got down there... lol
Thanks for looking...
