Father Son 75 CB200T Rise From the Ruins

Found and 1 1/2 Chrome tube that fits the velocity stack perfect but is slightly too large for the carb...gonna see if the hardware has a better gasket.

Should we port the inside of the tube to match the throat of the carb?

--I responded to your other post with this same answer first. Thought id re post for continuity.

Did you use cam assembly lube on the cam? It may take a while to push out the heavier lube from the holes in the cam lobe.

30 seconds isn't very long for that tiny pump to move much oil.

I turned mine over for a while, then pulled the stator side cover to check if there was oil in the galley which goes to the crank and up the studs to the head. Sure enough there it was.

Upon replacing the stator side cover. My final confirmation was when the cam holder gaskets started leaking.
Hopefully yours is buttoned up tight.

When I switched my clutch sidecover to one I had modified for an external oil line, it was much easier to see how slowly it flowed.
no cam lube but we found this down in Austin this week on a Ducati...

I went ahead and decided to get my seat from GFTP, thanks for your inspiration! If I may ask, how long did it take to recieve your seat?

it was about 3 weeks

We mocked up the Dynatek Dc7-1 5ohm coil and it will fit with drilling two holes in the frame.

Was told this was better way to balance carbs by just inserting into our velocity stacks. Any comments or suggestions?

We checked our compression on our new engine and it was 90 psi in both cylinders. We the shot some oil into it and checked it since the engine hasn't been fired up and it shot up to over 200...may have put a little too much oil in :)

Is our original float setting really this far off? The book says 21mm.

So we adjusted the tab so the float from the top of the float to the casing was 21 mm when the float was just closed

what kind of electronic ignition are you using. I was under the impression that 5ohms was the tops for a dual tower coil to match an electro ignition on a cb200... let me know ur results bro... just interested in the learnins ! Cheers !

we are using a dynatek gl 1000 ei with a dc7-1 coil. The racers use a 3ohm coil but for the street a 5ohm coil is better because it has less of a power draw. The stock coil is a 5 ohm coil. Check it's continuity...ours was 4.5. You can use the gl1000 ei with a stock coil to save some $$ We tore into our stock coil last night cause it had no continuity between plug wires. So we cut the plug wires off of the coil and found out one of the plug wires was the culprit not the coil. We have some new orange 8mm plug wires coming :) I called Dynatek and their tech guru said to use a 5ohm coil for the street. Teazer said "amen" so that is the route we took.

Today we go to the bone yard to get a bracket off of a 175 for our pipes and assemble our last carb. We are building a shorty fender coming off the swing arm. The wires should be here next week. Father's Day is coming up so I am hoping for a megacycle cam. My wife wanted a hammock for Mother's Day...opposites really do attract lol.

We got the rule book for the BUB run at bonneville and my son has to be 12 so we have two more years of tinkering http://www.speedtrialsbybub.com/2013_event/AMA-BUB-SR-2013-V1.pdf

We will eventually put a 3ohm coil. I am looking for another cb200 head to build for a speed run.

We had a cl muffler all rusted out but wanted to use the heat shield. So we cut the brackets off the muffler and they lined up perfectly with the other heat shield holes.

We need you help. We have 12 volts into the coil and 12 volts out of the coil. We are using a dc7-1 coil and it has 4.8 ohms primary and 16k secondary...this is correct...with the plug wiress added we have 24k resistance throught the coil. We checked the condenser and it discharged.

We rotated to the f mark. Attached a test light to the point spring and grounded it. No light. We adjusted the point gap before we did all of this FYI. We loosened the point plate and rotated it no light.

We have spark! The spring for the points was grounded and so was the wire to the points it needs to be assembled like this pic.
