Re: CB550 alloy sprint

Hey if you want to sell that tank with the knee dents you made let me know. I'm interested. Bike is going to be sweet, I like the color scheme and that new tank looks fast just sitting there. -MBS

That's going to be stunning, lovely work mate!

Where did you say that fairing came from? What a work of art that is!

First saw the fairing on the Deus salt flat bike. they wanted around $1700 US for one.

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

i would build a bike for my girlfriend but i would probably end up riding it more than her. well i guess that wouldn't hurt huh. the build looks good. i like the tank. i'm looking to build a cr350 replica tank for my next build. keep it up

seems like they made that tank pretty quick, it's nice too
I cant wait to have my hands on it. Im having a hell of a time getting the money to him through bank of america. Why is a wire transfer so difficult for them. Any way i hope you are able to build me a matching seat cowl. ;D

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

Okay, got him the money and hes working on making easier for the next buyers to make payment. We will see how the tank turns out but i will tell you their customer service is the very best.

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

I machined down the right brake mount for the dual disk set up. I think it will work now. Also got my tank from England! SOoooooooo nice. Im at work for 2 days so i cant fit it on the bike yet but after i do its on to building a seat and mounting the fairing. My plan is to keep building and putting things together until its all there and im satisfied. Then I will tear it all apart and powder coat the frame and paint the tank. This is going to be a slow build.

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

I really love this build, it feels like you're pulling images directly from my brain! The tank/seat/fairing set-up you've got is one of the best I've seen, cant wait to watch the progress. Keep it comin!

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

Here it is in reality, not a photoshop. I wish the tank was a little lower in the front. I think i might drop the forks a little more and put an 18" tire on the back.

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

Took advantage of a buddies shop. Have one set of rearsets tacked on and the other is jigged and almost done. I also built a motorcycle stand.

Rearset jigged but i ran out of 7/8 tube

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

hey man, nice biuld.
is that the original rear tire? 16 inch.
130/90. i have a 18 on mine, cb500 73.
would like to get a 16 for mine, and i believe that the 500 and the 550 have the same swing arm width, etc.
i think i read that you were getting a alloy rear wheel? if so are you willing to sell the one on there?

any way, looking good.
later.

Re: CB550 alloy sprint

Definitely go with a larger rear wheel if you can - I'd go all the way to 19". I'm running 18's front and rear and like the look of the same size wheels. 19's would look great on that bike.
