Frame welding modification on 82 CM450C

I actually had one of these bikes, and I was going to cafe it and give it to my daughter. It was in terrible condition, and had been outside for years. Engine spun over fine and had compression.

A kid came into my shop wanting to buy a project bike that he would work on for a couple years. I sold it to him for $350. Haven't heard from him. I suggested he email me, and I would point him to this forum.

Mine was pretty rough when I got it too, n these motors really come alive once you start working on them. I dynoed mine last august with emgo pods( to find negative effects of them) in 105 degree weather n put 36hp at 9200rpm n 29 ftlbs at 6500rpmto the wheel. I haven't had time to go back with the pod extensions n the retune but I don't see 40 to the wheels being a prob. I've always ran a vaccum secondary Holley for the street on my hotrod n it got me thinking bout playing with the spring rate in the diaphragms of my cv carbs, I'm thinking the stock spring is now to stiff for the more horsepower. Teazer, that's your cue, lol. ? We kinda just jacked his thread but he should learn a great deal because of it, lol

all true ;)

I'm all ears for learning as much as I can. I learn a lot better from doing, however. For instance: I saw someone make extensions for the pods, is 4 inches enough?

I'm in Austin too, by the way, and would love to see your CM one of these days. Maybe pick your brain about a few of the crazy ideas I've got rolling around. I read in one of your other posts that you don't drink, but everyone loves a cook out. You're a fabricator, so do you have a shop in town? Maybe I could stop by and you could ridicule me in person while I laugh and learn some humility. Never know.
