Freshening up...

I started laying out the framework for the seat:

Hours and hours of sanding with 180 grit emery cloth on the frame, swingarm, and center stand and it's

about ready for primer:

Head taped up prior to sandblasting:

After blasting (and washing and washing and washing):

Chopstick whittled down to make a valve guide reamer:

I cut the aluminum tubing to make the seat support, still need to trim and paint and line up the fasteners for this. I'm planning to use U bolts around the frame tubes and up through the bottom set of aluminum tubes, then bolt the other aluminum tubes to the seat, then bolt all the tubes together.

Yes, it's a series of tubes.

Maybe tomorrow I'll bondo the seat. I need to get some more sandpaper, though...

holy shit. that is waaaay too much sanding. nice work. you should try hanging your pieces when you paint them. you can get to all the sides in one go. nice work. if i had half of your patience id be done already.

Ordinarily I'd hang something before I'd paint it, like when I paint a guitar body, but I didn't really have the means to hang the frame in the shop and I had wind and dust outside. Maybe I'll hang it next time I repaint it... :p

i kinda figured you just didnt have anywhere to hang it. by the way, i like the drill press idea.

I just figured out that it's to cost me $100 for my rear lighting setup! Hahahaha!

$40 pair of round red 20 LED stop/turn/tail lights
$20 electronic flasher
$20 integrator
$20 LED tag bolts

Tonight I started prepping this aluminum sheet to cut and use under the seat to mount the electronics to.

My new tail lights arrived yesterday! The rear of the tail piece is about 8.5" wide, and these lights are about 4.25" in diameter, so they'll just fit. They're made for school buses so they should be uber bright. I actually considered using a single 7" tail light with separate turn signals, but that would have been too cartoonish...

These lights are huge:

I've decided to make a hugger fender for the rear, instead of using the stock inner fender:

I actually had a pretty productive evening:

Where did you get those nice little clamps to hold the aluminum tray in your frame? I need some!

You should invert the bolts though so the nut etc. is hidden in with the electrics.

Lowe's Home Improvement Center!

I will, and I'll also use bolts of the appropriate length. These are just to hold it in place while I work out how to fit ten pounds of shit into a five pound bag...

That is a very nice, clean way of doing that... Most impressed i am.

Well done. Please look away while i shamelessly steal this.

Very nice indeed! So nice that I think Clearwater FL will be minus one aluminum sign in the next few days ;D
