Beater, if you get a second please let me know on those claipers, i really would like to do that upgrade and it would save me the $ on the rebuilds, and the time on the powder

i just did some quick research and it seems like those are the calipers joe....

AWESOME MAN! looks like i can order up to a 2000 and they will fit, just have to look for the blue circles on the brakes! thanks again man!

hell ya man i am stoked! my plan was to paint the motor tonight but it is 7 degrees... will take me forever to get the part metal temp of the motor up to where i can shoot it... so i am going to go to a buddies house and drink! been a long time since i just took a night off, no shop, no powder, just booze and friends!
i am sure i will end up in his garage drunk wokring on his vulkan 750... but that is because i love bikes...
the blue is goign away, going to do that in the orange... the braided lines did it for me...
twisted ia mg oing to tothrough your build thread this weekend and get up to pace on it, my bad man just been slammed... got me a 40 and a case... waiting on wifey to get back, we will burn and head out...
thats right i drink 40's it is a man size beer!

Hell yeah dude, wish I could still burn and run!!!!! Anyway I am still down with the 40's! You have to play Edward 40 hands! If you don't know, what you do is get with a few friends, one does not participate as someone will need hands! The rest of you get a full 40 duct taped to each hand and you cant take them off until both are empty! Gets really interesting if you can get at least two people who can make it to round 2! I hope you have some fun!

Cheers!

sorry - down with the flu.

If you really want it to stop, get the r6/r1 radial master. or, just the linear with remote, all brembo, and way better than stock. my fizzer's down tubes are 89's, so the blue dot's won't work. I put on a radial master and sintered pads, and it will stoppie all day long.

I just put a Brembo R6 radial brake MC on my FZR in place of the conventional R6 MC I had on there. Honestly, I think I liked the conventional one better. It was a bit firmer, but had better feedback for me(with blue dot calipers, switching to gold dot soon). I still really like the radial setup overall and am going to leave it on, but I dont feel like it was a necessary upgrade anymore. But it does match my brembo clutch MC, so I dont mind. I have been running EBC HH pads, same pads with both MCs. The radial MC is so much easier to work on though. The banjo bolt location looks better, and bleeding the system is SOO easy compared to a conventional MC. So overall I feel the radial was a plus over te conventional, but not without its compromises IMO.

And really the only difference between the YZF/R6 blue dots and the 02-03 R1 gold dots, is the gold dots are a hair lighter, and have teflon coated pistons. Otherwise, they interchange.

I have two radial, and one conventional brembo. the radial's do feel "softer" at the lever, but I feel they work better. The radial on my ducati is like squeezing a plush toy, but it relates directly to the input at the disc. I have only over braked on one occasion, and that was on a surprise wet spot. The conventional is now on the fizzer, and it's twitchy, more like a light switch. with the soft front ends of fzr's, that's not always a good thing.

I think you would be fine with either, but get the radial if you can, some steel lines and copper pads and you will have more brake than that bike will ever need.

The blue is anodized, and if I recall, they do sell different colors on the aftermarket. I have never seen them look bad though, on any color scheme.

My front end is pretty stiff, so I havent had too much trouble with diving from over braking, but that stiffness probably helped the feel of the conventional MC as well. But the first few times I rode it after the swap, I did slightly overbrake a few times coming to a stop, but nothing unmanageable. I would still recommend the radial if its in the budget, though. As i get more used to the radial I like it, but it definitely has a different feel to it.

I hate the blue dots on my calipers. Blue does not really fit in a black and red color scheme. I did not know that different colors were available aftermarket. I had thought it would be a nice idea, but could never find anything.

Wow! I did the same thing for a dude back in the mid 90's, only I chopped off the passenger peg brackets along with cutting down the seat cowl. I also ditched his stock mirrors in favor of some Lockhart-Philips faux carbon fiber units cause I thought the stockers looked like Mickey Mouse Ears. The owner was so pleased with the outcome and was first guy that said I should customize sportbikes for a living. Ha! Now, I suggested he keep the stock colors, but the whole monochrome thing was becoming a trend in bikes and cars, so he painted his FZR a funky copper/burnt orange, or pumpkin kinda thing. I hated it. I should've taken a picture of it, but phone cams weren't commonplace back then.

twisted we have played 40 hands many a time! ha ha ha the girls use 32oz. We used to do alot of chuggin contests when i was in college... i have reigned unbeaten out of can, bottle, and cup, anyone wants some, come get some

ha ha ahhh any way!
thanks for the advice on the brakes! i am stoked for them! got the shop straitend up yesterday... then went into the powder shop and did a monthly full clean... sucks! everything goes out, gets blown off, wiped down and cleaned till it looks like new. this prevents contamidation issues in the powder, sucks doing it but is a nessessity.

sadly i did not get much done this weekend, got the mono shock all cleaned up nice. and started to sand and prep for paint. still got lots to do and prep before i can lay primer... but i am on my way there. here are some pics. wife is taking me out for my B day dinner, gots to go!

we are doing a tax season special this month for 65 per wheel to be powder coated, that is a single shot powder (+20 to pull bearings per wheel). includes, chemical strip, blasting, and coating.
let me know if you have any questions. we also can pull rubber and replace it for an additional charge.

Got some more powder laid this weekend, also had some time so i tossed the rubber back on the rims tonight as well... looking good so far... aslo a bit more prep work for paint. You can see the orange and the flat black really look sick together... hope to get some time and we can shoot the orange on the engine cases and frame/swing arm this week some time!
