Ground Resistance

Re: Ground Resistance - Bars Up 01-13-2011

Those bars are sick.

And my first thought on that slatted windshield was exactly like Joe. Some plexi and lights would look amazing. Just the glowing monster from the far reaches coming back from the wastelands.

My 2nd Robot image posted today - The Mark 13 from the movie Hardware. The wasteland comment reminded me of the movie.

No worries Von, any led's will be muted through frosted acrylic, and very subtle. Although Joe's lights are trick as hell (I really love the blue rocket). As far as tires mookieo, I am leaning towards the shinko 705's. PURE SEX!

Funny thing Jay, I've been searching post apocalypse images, and manga robots all morning. I keep stumbling across Hardware stills. As of today I'm shifting into the next gear on this thing. Stoked! I can't help but attribute the inspiration from our resident mad scientist and his 'few words' thread. You rock out loud Brother.

So cool! This is what I would ride if zombies took over. 8)

Lookin good Crescent!

I was just telling a friend of mine about this bike. He asked what I would classify it as, and I didn't know exactly what say. After thinking for a second, I just said "his".

Absolutely. This bike build certainly has people talking and even if it isn't too your liking, you have to appreciate the fact that it is built with a lot of care, thought and design to the style.

Daniel, you give a lot of props to some well deserving people on this board that have help to inspire and make this place what it is, but seriously brother, you are inspiring all in your own right as you make building a bike exactly what it is. A ride for yourself.

Thanks Jay. I'm just glad such a great group of guys, that just seem to always 'get it', can accept my little piece of chaos.

I got side tracked from the windscreen. While i was cutting the pieces I found an old propane bottle that needed to be modified.

I thought about putting the electrics in there, but I'm worried about heat issues. It will probably just be a tool roll caddy. The windscreen should make leaps and bounds in the morning.

Uh-oh... We made the same part out of the same material. Mine was a MAP gag bottle, haha...
I wouldn't worry about heat either man... If anything, just dont put your rectifier in there. It's the only thing that would be getting warm.
What can I say, great minds think alike!!! Bike is rock'n as usual man. Love the Bars to.
Joe, you and your LED's... haha I can see it know. Joe and wife exchanging gifts on a 20th wedding anniversary, She opens the little box. And out comes a Brilliant blue light! and she says, "oh Joe, you shouldn't have... LED earrings" haha your a mad man.

If great minds think a like, I guess the same should be true for a couple schmoes like us. Having never done anything like this with a propane bottle before, I was just overjoyed that I didn't blow myself up!

This little project did teach me that if necessity is the mother of invention, then being broke is his father, and being cheap is the creepy uncle who taught him everything he knows.

Flattered fellas. I knew if you kept me around long enough I'd submit something worthwhile to the collective.

Re: Ground Resistance - Bars Up 01-13-2011

Took a coco pebbles break, so you get a quick shot of the brackets for the electrics hide away. I think a spring will go on each side to hold it shut.

Back to the windscreen now.

Re: Ground Resistance - Bars Up 01-13-2011

Crescent, you should see if you can find one of those old steel dummy grenades and cut it open about half way through the body and weld the top end over the cap of the propane tank to make it look like an improvized explosive!
