Ground Resistance

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

this build is way far out. I don't know how I would react if I saw you roll by me on that. Probably have to pick my jaw off the ground.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

Dear god man! You're truly an artist in every sense! the workmanship on the material, the distressing and every little detail...going to spend the next 3 hours poring over this thread and drooling on your pics, hope you don't mind.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

Geez fellas, I am truly humbled by the responses. I gotta quote the Joker from the 1989 Batman, "I don't know if its art,... but I like it". If it wasn't for DTT I'd probably still have the duct taped stock seat on this thing. I have to thank so many around here for tolerating me and even facilitating the madness.

Lassenc, the logo was designed to have a WW2 feel, but it is actually a Celtic shield knot. I chose it because it was an Irish symbol for protection and guardian, and it looks cool. I suppose Hitler chose to desecrate the swastika for similar reasons, but for a vastly different purpose.

Yesterday's progress wasn't really picture worthy. Mostly just clear coating some distressed parts, and tear down. I laid a base coat on a bunch of stuff too. I have a lot of stuff that needs to cure before getting more layers. Today is also gonna be a lot of boring detail work. I'll get a pic of the rear hugger up shortly. Thanks again for all the comments, ideas, and inspiration guys. You all rock!

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

I like the little bullet proof looking wind visor. Maybe find some empty pineapple grenades and stick them on somewhere. Love it all man, great stuff.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

I have a sweet idea, You could make your seat fabric outta old military ww2 uniforms from a surplus store. sounds cool to me at least

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

So effin' cool man. Cant even begin to describe the awesomeness...

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

I feel ya on the pineapples Joe. The idea was offered up before, I just couldn't figure out what to do with them. We'll see, maybe they will show up after it is road worthy. Same thing with the BDU seat Blake. I searched around and couldn't find anything that fit the bill. I might revisit that in the future too. And I'm glad you like it Mike. I'm digging the tatoo/comic feel that is developing as the paint goes on. It needs a smiley face with stitches, or a pin up chick riding a bomb painted in an obscure location.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

Good work Crescent. You're on a pretty good roll, keep it up.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

2-Smoker, that's genius. I'm gonna look into that for sure. Rich I plan on staying on a roll, so if I get to slacking, feel free to bombard me with all manor of aggressive motivation and cursing till I get back to work.

Oh yeah, curse you Lassenc. Now that I look at the symbol just right I do see a swastika in the negative space that wasn't there before. You ruined my logo damnit... Oh well, I wanted the bike to be edgy I guess.

Re: Ground Resistance - Playing in Paint

Can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but man.....you are one artistic mofo!

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

Sorry to keep you holding six-six. I have been busy lately, and finding time to get online has been tough. I have been popping on to check up, and search for info. I have upgraded to bronze bushings, and tapered bearings in the swinger and neck respectively. Everything else has been clean up and paint.

After so long I owe some pics, agreed?

Shocks distressed up, with no place to go...

Bars and top trees. I'm keeping it monochrome for a reason. TOP SECRET!

Chain guard.

Yeah, got the rear hugger done and painted too.

Had to get a saw blade in there too...

Finally the show piece, aka tank lid. I'm thinking of 'tatting' up other bits too. We'll see...

Enjoy fellas, I have to go strip the frame for paint. It is the last thing holding off assembly.

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

Thanks Rev. Tough to nail down a time frame, as I have a buddy who is gonna pop my tires on, and he is a busy guy. The frame should get paint in the next few days, and I'll start a milk crate assembly once it dries. The engine is in a deplorable state, so I'll hit that while the aircraft stripper eats the frame.

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

MOAR!!!

What kind of shocks are those? Hurry up so I can see this masterpiece in my lifetime. Such a great build already I can't envision paint being anywhere on this bike.

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

Thanks Jugg, glad you approve. I'm not sure what the shocks are. I picked 'em up in a trade, and they aren't labeled. I get some more for you soon I hope. I still have a hell of a lot to do.

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

Love it dude! She'll be ready for running through hordes of the undead in no time. Can't wait to see your battle ax made from half of a giant sprocket and your Steel Dawn chain mail tank top and eye patch! ;)
Seriously looking great. I can't wait to see all of these amazing pieces together on that bike!

Re: Ground Resistance - Where's Crescent?

It may be in here somewhere but there are a lot of pages lol

How do you get the paint to look like that? I have a project and I think the engine would look great painted up like that.

Thanks
