Ground Resistance

Re: Ground Resistance: Scrub Time

K boyos... The engine is still mid scrub, but the rear end is on, and the front is assembled and ready to hook up. Pics of a roller tomorrow. See you in the morning fellas.

Re: Ground Resistance: Scrub Time

Re: Ground Resistance: Scrub Time

Great progress man! you definitely can tell that you are in Texas by the color of that grass! haha

seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiicccckkkkk!!!!!!!!

Re: Ground Resistance: Scrub Time

Thanks fellas. Ok, lots to throw at you guys.

Mounted the ped-slicer, and threw in the headlight to start some wiring. Super jazzed about how that looks together.

The happy fun time stops there. Some issues:

The new shocks are way stiffer than I had anticipated, and although the engine is not in yet, these things barely sense my 190 pound ass. It also sits real high in the rear. I hope the engine weight squats it a bit, because I have trouble throwing my leg over with the 'decoration' behind the seat. Then there is the issue of the angle of the swing arm... Thoughts?

Next, I plan on using the stock battery box with all the electrics exposed behind the side cover. Once it is prettied up, it should look cool.

Which brings us to this:

If the canister isn't gooing to house the reg/rec, then what to do? It would make a nice tool and registration cubby, though I already vented it to cool the rec. I might just make something a little more low profilto fill the visual gap.

I'm also contemplating streamlining the silver cage piece, and losing the phony antenna. It sure would be eaisier to toss a leg over. Still have to ponder that one. The front blinkers are annoying me too. I think I'll mock up the whole blinker with wire cover, and see if it works. If not they'll get streamlined too.

And since you are still here, have a gatuitious low light shot.

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

This thing is really too cool, it is. I love what you've done!

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

I was thinking of your bike today as i was riding around the lake in my city. The annual zombie-walk was today, and i think having 1000+ people in full makeup and costume in the background would make for a sick photoshoot.

+1 Agree 1000%
I haven't checked in for a while. Congratulations on the progress. Looking fantastic!

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

It's equal parts Full Metal Jacket, Aliens & Mad Max.....all adding up to one damn cool bike!

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

Thanks again guys. It helps to have some backup when the wife rolls her eyes at my 'work'.

I think I am keeping the bump decor. The engine and other details should help tie it all in. At the very least I'm holding off on the hacksaw until I see it all together.

Details:

The front blinker mounts are still in mortal peril though.

I love the rear end view. I'm shaping the rear lens now. I'm hoping to just epoxy it in place, But I might have to build a bracket of some kind. Any thoughts on that?

The rear geometry still worries me a bit.

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

I thought I replied to this earlier, but I must have missed the "post" button. If the shocks are too long/heavy, are you able to swap out the springs? Might want to just wait until you get the motor in there before making any decisions. What's it weigh, like 220#'s? That's a good bit of mass......

And on a side note, your lawn reminds me of when I lived in New Mexico.

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

Lawn... oh you mean my finely cultivated wild southern sprig grass. Get some culture hippie! :D

Good call on the motor, I think that's what I'm gonna have to do.

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

Hahahaha!

You can always tell where a dog goes to the bathroom on a lawn - that's where the grass grows!

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

"grass is always greener, where the dogs are shitting" - Soundgarden

Love it so far cresent. The weight of the motor and rider my drop the back end plenty. This thing is going to look insane rumbling down the road!

Re: Ground Resistance: What do you think?

Ok, so this weekend is pretty much shot. I'm working a couple of extra 12's which sucks. The good news is the extra bread will help finish off Christmas for the kiddos, and might even leave a couple of bones for the bike.

It is definitely going to need new brake pads, chain, sprockets, and possibly an electro ignition and coils.

I'm glad you guys are still rooting for me. I'm gonna need your help to get over the last few hurdles. I'm starting to plan my wiring, and you could fit all I know about electricity on a cigarette paper. I'm starting with this diagram, but it needs a circuit for blinkers and switched accent lights.

I'll work up a sketch and run it by you for a prompt denial soon. In the meantime I'm all about the engine.

And thanks again fellas.
