Et voila!
I'm afraid the LED/plastic lens aspect detracts a bit from the vintage-y theme, but the one thing it has going for it is that it's bright as shit; the brake light literally hurts the eyeballs.

I know what you mean about bright. I blinded myself a couple of times when I was wiring mine up

I doubt it's noticeable from any more than 3 feet away but I think it would keep that back end super clean
