I had some beefy tires like that on my xs1100....is was fun as hell.

Well speedy, I'm looking forward to some fun times on the thing.......and not expecting too much either ;)

Update: I've adopted a new mantra "Will it make the bike run?"....if it don't, it ain't gettin' done...simples. Laters.... :D

My son fancies a Beetle as his 'first car' , so we're buying one next year as a restoration project. I bought a 1200 in the 1980's which needed new floor pans, heater channels, inner wings and so on, so it will be cool doing another one up with junior.

When's the bike going to be finished then? Looks like it's almost done now :)

UKMark - Beetle prices are rising to get in soon as......buy the best one you can afford as you'll spend a ton more on panels/repairs.

Father/Son projects are cool and should be encouraged :D

This dedicated VW forum is a good source of info/tips/ideas etc as well as a lively 'for sale' section.

Here's my build thread to remind you of the horrors within, if you have a spare afternoon that is ? haha: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=682286

It does look sort of complete, but there's a way to go yet.....if only I could find one whole week it'd be done enough to MOT and ride. I certainly want to be on the road this summer.......tick follows tock ;)

Yup,. I've still got some beetle bits from back in my air-cooled days! A few exhausts (inc a proper stinger) and some 5x112 drilled drums!

Bike is looking good, it's so nice to see these things put together, even if temporarily, really gives you a feel for how it'll look when done!

Have you got a job list left for the bike?

Cheers PPC...I was chatting to my son about the 'to do list' last night:

Brake refit
Wheels on - f&r inc pads and lines - bleed
Sprocket/chain on
Paint engine
Paint frame
Seat back from upholsterer
Tank clean and paint
Weld rear hoop
Electrics - reposition some stuff - using stock battery/air box
Headlight mounts and wiring
Speedo mount and wiring
Indicators and wiring
Guards f/r inc mounts
sundry items.....side stand, detailing etc

I reckon if I had a solid week most could be done....but I don't :-(
On the brightside, most of the jobs are bolting stuff back on and I'm trying to concentrate on getting it running, cosmetics such as side panels can wait:)

Your Guzzi looks mean in b/w.

Cheers

Good work fella, just given a quite coat of paint? Are you going to paint the frame yourself or get her powdercoated?

Thank you..
I zinc primered the bare metal before giving it a few coats of rattle can gloss black. It's all I'm doing for now, get it looking smart and rideable is my aim. Avoiding the total strip down as I know I won't finish it...... :'(

A small but important step closer to finishing this damn project has occurred.
