honda rebel?

Nice stuff, looks like a chopper version of the CB250. If its the same engine then they aren't too bad, top speed is a bit limited and freeway work would be irritating but they make for good around-town riding.

One thing you can do if you did end up getting the Virago is to track down a SRV250's top end and transplant that in. Apparently its good for another 8 horses or something, bumping you up pretty close to 30.

That's a really great price on a 450 man. I have seen them go for WAY more than that. If nothing else, you could just sell it for profit (yeah right!!!! You know you wanna bob it!).

I say try to haggle him down and go for it. Admittedly, I am just a stickler for seeing you guys build bikes, so asking me if you should buy something is like asking a homeless guy if he wants any cash.
 
Hurry go get it now! You will never find one for that price again! Hell you could buy it, ride it for a month, then sell it for more than twice that if it truely is mint! Stop checking DTT and go get it before he changes his mind! HURRY!

he wants 1800 firm. he wanted more, but i made a post on cl saying i had between 1200-1800 for a rebel or virago.
only problem is, after the car i bought on saturday, i only have $2000 left to my name..yikes.

im still possibly thinking about selling the 1974 cl25 when i get it running. i saw a 1975 cb125 on craigslist in the same shape as mine asking $2200. is that number for real? they go for that?

Whoa, I don't know man....it's definitely worth over a grand being as nice as it is, and maybe to the right buyer. Of course I am a cheap ass, and I buy shitty bikes for chump change and then fix them. But some people just want to buy and ride. You're in a good area for bike sales, and the good thing is that riding season is upon us. Set a price in your head that you have to have, set a price, and see who bites, you never know.

But for real, if you want that 450, that is a helluva deal. I owned one back in the mid 90s and rode the absolute hell out of it. I paid $500 for it, rode it for 2 years to school and what not, and when I finally sold it in 99, I got $3400 for it....WITH TWICE THE MILES! Of course I painted it and stuff like that but damn!

Dude, that bike is so worth $1800, it aint even funny! JUMP ON IT!

As for the CL, well that seems pretty damn high to me, you could sell yours for at least $1000 if it is running at all. A CL125 woul have to be bone stock, all original, perfect shape to get $3000 for it. So the one you speak of can't be worth more that $1500 I would think!
 
yeah i thought the cb125 for 2500 was insane.

i just finished kreeming the cl125 tank. all i gotta do now is put it back on with the new petcock i got for it, and charge the new battery i got for it and voila. even though i DO love the little cl (and i havent even ridden it yet) i think i am gonan sell it to make room for the cmx450. after all, i wanted a bobber and i bought the cl125 to do that to, but ended up not having the heart to chop it. so i think itll be ok if i sell her.
 
my question is, does the frame end at the suspension there where it all comes to a point? and the chrome piece is an added support? or is there more frame under the rear fender?

frame ends there at the shock mounts, maybe an inch or two behind them. The chrome brace is just that....a brace! Only supports the rear fender, throw it and the fender away!
 
Don't throw the fender away!! You can get some cash for it via ebay! I'm selling the one I took off of Eleanor! That may be the only part I'm not keeping on the bike that's even worth selling!

ok great! that way i dont have to chop anything off. i didnt have a problem chopping a foot off the back of my gs550, but this thing is so clean i want to make it a bobber/brat bike without going past the point of no return, just incase.

Don't listen to Twisted Mike, he's heavily medicated :p The frame really doesn't need any trimming unless you're going to do some serious mods like relocating the shock mount points. The frame is ideal for a clean bobber! Go check out my build thread in bobs and chops and see what she looks like undressed!
