Horn-looking Kwaka Triple

Drewski, I was being somewhat facetious, to draw a comparison between the two builds. One is extremely detail oriented unbelievably well executed and the other is a simple strip it paint it black and leave it naked in the middle - same as a million other uninspired builds.

I could not locate the build on exif or on their site but I may have been chasing the wrong links.

Yes it is designed to look basic and tough and as if it has street cred - urban warrior, post "pokkie clips" and I do get what people like about it. It appeals to me to a certain degree and then I compare it to Carpenters build and I ask myself which one is s great example of imagination and which one isn't and to me, the answer was clear.

I wasn't really attacking or defending either build. One is too much for my taste but I love the craftsmanship and the other is so much less than it could have been that I found it disappointing. I have an S1 motor in the shop and as manufactured it's not all that inspiring except as to what it could be with a little redesign. With reeds and slightly larger pistons in perhaps a plated alloy liner, it could be a 60+hp rocket ship in an A1RA chassis, or with a fraction of those dollars it could be a really neat cafe racer.

I realize that not everyone in the Biz has that level of skill or inspiration or wants to spend that much time and cash on a 250 triple

Look at that RD/R5 they built. It's gorgeous and maybe a little OTT for my taste but really nicely done. If they did half that work and detailing on that S1 imagine what it could have been like.

As I mentioned earlier, my original comments were facetious ie poking fun, being humorous, but now I look at it again, I agree with myself - and that doesn't always happen. :) If you have a link to the build I'll follow it and maybe I'll change my mind.

It's just a bike and it's just my opinon (today). Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the input - BTW are those FZ Yamaha wheels on your H2 and did I see your build over on KTW by any chance? Good to see you over here.

Hey Teazer! :)

I really don't want to drag this on too long (too late??), but I guess I was wondering about the "million other uninspired builds" comment.

I figure if someone spends any time and money to build something, they were probably "inspired" in some way.

You also commented, "low functionality." At least he/she could ride it at night! ;) 8)

Hey. I don't expect us to agree on all things. Maybe I'm feeling a little defensive on behalf of all the Kawasaki Triple low buck, backyard hacks out there! ;D

Ya, those are FZ600 wheels and suspension on the h2. Still working on it. :p

I'm all over the KTC site and I've been around here for awhile. ;)

Steady On! 8)

You can't really compare these two bikes - apart from having three two-smoke cylinders, they are completely different. Kinda like comparing an R6 to a Road King ::)

All I know is if these two were parked side by side in my garage and I had the choice to ride either, it wouldn't be the black one ;)

BTW - what's the guess on the CC's of the black one? I know they came out in 250, 300, 350, 400....????

I thought the US got a 300 triple, but in hindsight I'm probably thinking of other models (like GS300).

Hillsy, It's an S1 so it's the baby triple.

No worries Drewski. I like your bike and all mine are low or zero budget builds. Mine's also a two stroke triple but it weighs in at something close to its nickname. I was just being crabby last night.

I have an S1 motor all boxed up to get to M in SC if I can work out how to get it there cheaply. They are a nice little motor and have a lot of potential as a vintage race bike. I need to check Cru$$el's out. There are lots of pictures on Randy Illg's Framecrafters web site.

Different opinions are good. I like to change mine often. :)

You get crabby?? Haha!

I'm just one of those weirdos that loves "everything Triples"!

Sounds like you have a nice little Triple project of your own brewin' for some day down the road!

You referring to Dave Crussell's race bikes? I've seen them several times! He's crazy fast on 'em!

Steady On!

Dave's bikes are fast and e rides them well. I was specifically referring to his S1R. The frame is similar to an A1Ra and looks really neat. He had Framecrafters in IL make a new frame and it's featured in the FC site.

I have two major triple projects on the go. One is the Phat Trakka which was designed to sop up all the surplus GT750 parts I had lying around the shop taking up space. The other is a reed valve GT750 with GSRX suspension and wheels and some more serious frame mods. That one stalled with a few aspects of the reed conversion that require more $$ than I want to spend to take it to the next level. It's all about transfer port area and if I have to do what I think I have to do then it requires even more substantial barrel machining and welding and if I have to do that I want to either bridge the exhausts or fit eyebrow ports and exhaust power valves to increase port time area and to tame the beast.

And then the cases will flex and it will need a six speed trans and that requires more work and at that point you ask why not fit a sled motor, and that would explain a pile of other parts sectioned and investigated in the corner of the shop. Modifying bikes is a sickness that's like an itch that needs to be scratched. It's never quite right. There is always room for improvement or to try a different solution to see if it's any better.

Keeps me out of bars and out of trouble though.
