J-Rod's 82 CB750- AKA Giselle

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

My plans, have been dashed, yet again.

The welding shop welded the rails in upside down, on 16 panels. The plate lead, that has been a colossal fuck up all the way around. The supplier, was out of tolerance on everything. I paid them quite a bit extra to cut and drill it to +/- 62.5 thousandths. What I got was + between .125 and .250 over max allowance. And every single hole was drilled undersize. So the spacers called for do not fit. To top it off, I was supposed to receive 3 pallets of plates. I got two, the other somehow got shipped to Columbia, SC. I won't have it until Monday. That pallet is 32 plates, and the salesman has said they'll be off the roughly the same amount. He didn't even put a tolerance on the order, he assumed they'd be +/- .0625.

All of that, on top of the lead already being 3 weeks past scheduled delivery date.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

That shit just kills me  nobody takes pride in what they do anymore... cut corners to be the cheapest but never deliver what they "sell" ... Shit work Shit management of time and Shit attitudes, I could go and Shit down the throat of a certain powder coat dude in Memphis right now...   / RANT.

Have a sweet 4th and if you drink... pound a few down for the frustrated and enjoy a day away from it all!

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Pisses you off. I'm supposed to be on vacation right now.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

I'm working in Columbia the next two weeks, so if there are issues receiving or shipping let me know and I'll get your stuff and ship it out.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

It's a 1,400lb pallet of plate lead. They have it on the way now. Supposed to be here on Monday.

The offer is much appreciated, however.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Haha. Yeah. I'll leave that to the rigs. LOL.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Hopefully they can get it to me without screwing up again.

And when they do, I've got 32 hours on the milling machine fixing the lead companies fuck up.

Great holiday weekend. But hey, 'MERICA!

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

I've done a shit job of keeping up with a build thread.

I'm machining some new half moons for the exhaust, and she's on her way to a vintage bike show tomorrow morning.

Looks great. Good luck with the show. Are you doing the half moons split? I'd like to find them as one piece or with connected tabs on one side because individual halves make installing the supersport 4-int-1 a real pain in the ass.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Yeah, they're split. Can't get them over the flange otherwise.

I would have just bought some, but every set I've seen have been stupid expensive.

And, thank you.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

I still need to fab up an inner fender of some sort. That'll complete her.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Nice work. That looks like a ton of fun.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Thank you. From my limited experience on her, she is.

She does what she was intended to, draw attention, and be able to bar hop. Something I could slap my parts on for shows I am a vendor at that draws attention.

Just finished the half moons on the lathe and got them cut. Time to bolt the exhaust on and call it a night.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Very clean and unique. It has a very bold presence, in my opinion.

Did you decide not to run a fairing, or was that for a different bike? Maybe I missed something.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

I had one of the fairings I build mocked up on it. Decided against it on this one. She's not a racer. Fairing served no purpose really.

All in all, I love the way she turned out. Am glad I didn't waste the time to build a tank for it. I've become a fan of that particular tank. With the right seat, it looks good.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

In my opinion looks finished without the fairing, adding one would have taken away from the seat and tank pairing. Retro Hooligan. Really well done.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

It's a sweet ride, will be received well at any show. Take a shot of the other side?? wanna see the swinger from the hub side.

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Very nicely done. Should definitely get some interest.

I still chuckle when I hear bikes from the 80s referred to as vintage; but, hey. 30 years IS old...

Re: 1982 CB750K DOHC Monoshock, SSSA, USD Front, Bar Hopper.

Lol, it's six years older than me!
