I know, the bike will only run as designed if I use a stock airbox. However, the PO dumped the airbox and rejetted for pods so I figure I'll run with it for the time being.
The old pods are Uni filters but on the 550 they are a little long and hit the frame which annoys me incredibly from and aesthetic stand point. I have looked into the K&N pods and they have cone pod that is 2.25" long (should clear the frame) and a 1.375" ID throat, part RC-0790. Now, the carb throat OD is on my PD46C carbs is 38mm (~1.50"). K&N claim the throats can expand up to 1/16" which wouldn't be quite enough in this case. Has anyone tried these pods on a 550? Does anyone have any other suggestion that would fit?
