K&N pods for 78 CB550k

I know, the bike will only run as designed if I use a stock airbox. However, the PO dumped the airbox and rejetted for pods so I figure I'll run with it for the time being.

The old pods are Uni filters but on the 550 they are a little long and hit the frame which annoys me incredibly from and aesthetic stand point. I have looked into the K&N pods and they have cone pod that is 2.25" long (should clear the frame) and a 1.375" ID throat, part RC-0790. Now, the carb throat OD is on my PD46C carbs is 38mm (~1.50"). K&N claim the throats can expand up to 1/16" which wouldn't be quite enough in this case. Has anyone tried these pods on a 550? Does anyone have any other suggestion that would fit?

Thanks

Ok I'm new to this. I don't have the answer to your question, sorry, however I am eager to hear what the answer will be. I also have a '78 CB550K which I am crafting into a CR and I need to know which jets i will need to change and to which specs for the K&N pods.

Way to many variables to tell. Trial and error my friend, trial and error. General rule is 10/15% bigger jets with pods, but dont come to me if it aint workin'. I have a cb550 with a 650 cam and cheap pods. Runs like there's no tomorrow with OEM jets. Carbs are syncronized and engine had a port-job.
I've had enough cb's in my hands to know i'm lucky with this one.
