I think I could arch the seat pan from the left side to the right side, but there wouldn't be much room for padding.

That's pretty much the same as my CB. I just glassed the pan over the brace. You can find the pics in my build thread.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Oh yeah I forgot yours had that brace. Might be easier to just fiber glass it than. Bending that aluminum to that shape would be a pain.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Found a doner bike at the local salvage yard that I might pull some stuff from. It's a earlier model so I am not sure if the seat will fit, but I kinda hope it does:

Kinda surprised, it's titled and everything but they're still willing to sell me parts off of it.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Scored some free shocks from a local guy. The eye on the top is a little loose because the center piece was too small, so I just took it out.

Is it possible to purchase different size center pieces? I took a picture of them so you know what I am talking about. Not sure what the real name for them is. If not I could probably have them drilled out to fit better.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Nice man, looking good! I had to cut that hoop off my frame and weld a new one in. It's hard to work around.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Thanks man. I want to throw the back wheel and everything on it again to see how the ride hight will be now but I don't have a jack or the center stand on it, so it's sort of hard to do with only two hands.

Just a little more cleaning up and than I am going to start putting it back together! (I think)

I have a seat pan and pad from my 77. I trimmed the last 2 inches off it. Sell it to ya cheap.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Spent a lot of time cleaning up the engine, and got the wheels all shined up.

About ready to start reassembly.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

seat pan. that is not rust, excessive contact cement. like I said, cut the last 1-1/2" or 2 inches off.

Hm that might work. Let me think about it. I am not sure if I really need a second seat for it yet or not.

How much would you sell it for and where do you live? I am in Idaho.

im in FL. it would probably cost $15-20 to ship. Add $30 to that.

Alright man. I'll let you know. I think I can get the one from the salvage here for cheaper. Plus I'm not even sure if I want to do it yet.

Appreciate the offer though!

Awesome man. I appreciate the offer.

PM me your phone number and I'll shoot you a text about coming over to check it out.

Re: 79 KZ400 Cafe (Project #2)

Mocked it up real quick tonight with the rear shocks on so I can get a idea of the ride height. Much better.

Getting the engine shined up by Friday so I can (hopefully) get the engine put in and start putting it back together on Friday.
(That's not me in the picture)
