Originally, I had cut the sprak plug wires and put them onto the new Dynajet coils, but when I cut them I install wires for cylinder #1 and #2 on the left coil followed by #3 and 4 on the right, but this was incorrect. This would likely explain why the bike was running like crap the first time we started her up...... So, I went ahead and got some new wire and we will see if she will run correctly with cyl #1 and 4 on one coil and #2 and 3 on the other........ Don't you love it when you make really dumb mistakes

So,

We are in business here. Yesterday, Mario went through the carbs and we turned the air screws in to 1/8th of a turn out.... and boom! The bike is running great. After that we set up and bled the front brake as well as doing some other odds and ends including the tail light. All that remains is to install the new throttle, paint the tail, do the exhaust, and replace oil seals on the front forks.... here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure

Nicely done guys! Don't forget some sort of fork brace on that bad boy. KZ's are fun as hell to ride.

Yeah. Good idea. We have to make her stop leaking oil too.... she's a thirsty one

So. Spent most of today riding the motorcycle instead of working on it. Upon return we realized that the bike was leaking a good bit from the head and cam shaft cover.... so we let the bike cool down and investigated. Some loose bolts, so after tightening them up I think the oil leaks should seal up. Mario went ahead and installed the new throttle (had to cut more wire and put new ends on) and we started on the exhaust. More updates coming soon.

Yeah, most common problem I've personally had, was loose bolts after they heat up and settle in place.

So, things are really starting to come to an end on this KZ.... I installed some new spark plug wires and cables, then proceeded to assist Mario as he fabricated some CUSTOM PERFORMANCE RACE EXHAUST..... haha.... they're pretty dope. check 'em out. Next Tuesday they will get wrapped up and the ends will be shot black.

Those are going to be flipping loud. I still have hearing damage from running a 4-1 megaphone without a baffle on my 650.

Yeah, they'll be pretty loud, but these are the stock pipes on the 550, which had internal baffles in the header..... stupid right..... anyways, it quiets it a bit

So, I took the cam cover off and used some nasty stuff on the gasket to prevent oil leaks, as well as replacing some carb parts while Mario went ahead with wrapping the pipes. Also the tank is rusty and will stay that way, because it was shot with clear coat today. The second layer of paint will be put on the motor in the coming days and I think Mario is going to paint up the tail this weekend....

hey man. It is what it is. Criticism is welcome as long as its not too devastating

I can't comment until it's on. Some things don't look good until they are on the bike I'm sure it will look slick! ;) ;D

Well it would seem that this bike is almost done... little here and there but as she stands currently
