Are we talkin cyly base or rings in the head for the header?

It will probably mess with your cam timing as it will lift the head up a tad and the cam chain links will not correspond. You might get lucky and it's exactly one link out....or else you'll need to slot the cam sprocket and time it manually.

I mean it's .5mm gasket I looking at getting a .79mm (1/32) gasket.

Anyway, why the double gasket?

Mostly because I have access to 1/32" gasket material for free...

Cylinder base, i think it would be a really bad idea to double up the header gasket.

Do I need to replace the head gasket if I separated tye mating faces?

Hillsy is right that a thicker gasket will advance your cam timing but I doubt that it's enough to make a huge difference. Money is always an issue and I have made my own gaskets for a twin when I had to but for this one, I'd just buy a gasket set or new OEM base gasket. Check the surfaces twice to be 110% sure there are no raised bumps from screwdrivers or pry bars to cause problems.

Found the leak..... Pretty shallow so I'll jb weld it and smooth it out with a razor. New Athena kit is on the way, kit is the same price and just buying two gaskets

Biggest issue with MAC exhausts is the baffles are so restrictive you loose power. They do a 'straight through' for 'race' applications but apparently it isn't too bad. There isn't a reason to shorten pipe, all it will do is reduce ground clearance on right side. Maybe you just want to make sparks when cornering? ;D
