Mini LED speedo wiring - sr250

I have the mini LED speedo from dime city cycles and I'm trying to install into to the stock wiring harness for the 1981 yamaha sr250 I have. I'm extremely frustrated because I thought it would be a fairly simple install. I have followed all the wiring diagrams "I think" and I'm not getting anything. Here's where I'm at:

Connected all the ground wires from the dcc mini speedo to the black ground wire to the harness.
Connected each indicator wire to the corresponding wire from the harness.
The only indicator working is the neutral light.

From what I've noticed is that the sky blue wire for some reason will power whatever it touches and if it touches the ground wire it will power the starting motor.

What's going on and can anyone point me in the right direction to get this speedometer to work like it should?

Not all of the wires should go to ground.

Is this the speedo with the wires of two different colors; one solid and the other with a black stripe?

Yes it has the solid color and one with the black stripe

Something like this?

Blue wire - High beam
Yellow wire - Turn signal
Green wire - Neutral
Red wire - Oil pressure

Solid blue to high beam wire, Blue/black to ground.
A pair of diodes from each turn signal to spliced to the yellow wire and the yellow/black wire to ground.
Green wire to power, and green/black to neutral switch wire.

Not sure your bike has oil pressure, but red to power and red/black to oil pressure wire, if it does have one.

So should all of the wires with the black stripe be attached to each other and then plugged into the black ground wire from the harness? This may also be a stupid question but should the turn signals, headlight, speedo light, and other indicators only come on when the bike is running or can they come on with the bike not running?

No. Only the wires for the turn signal and high beam lights.

Only when the bike is running unless you want to do some wiring changes.
