MotoFiaccone RD400 Chopper/Cafe build--for real this time.

I lost my camera... or I didn't really lose it, I just don't know where it is and haven't really looked for it. So I've been taking camera phone pictures, which is sad, but I've got something that some people may be intrigued to check out. I got graphics today and for now this is all I'm going to show you :) Chris doesn't even know what the thing's going to look like and won't find out till the last layer of paint is dry. Let's hope he likes it.

Nice Kit. Way to throw out the tease. :) This thing is going to be increadible! To be honest, I'm more excited to see what you did than to actually ride the bike.

I owe you big for helping me with this. Send me some work :) And when it's done, you're welcome to the bike anytime you need to show it. Actually, I should really make it a point to attend some bike shows with you this summer.

Are you going to take some of the process then post them up when it's done? I know I'd love to see them.

Hi All:

Crazy day, but I managed to swing by Kits shop (www.dropbars.com) to pick up my stuff. He's worked his ass off on my stuff, and honestly, the results show it. I tried to get everything on the bike, but my wife had other plans. So you'll have to settle for these quick pics.

I cannot thank kit enough. I'll roll the bike out of the garage tomorrow and take better pics. The orange actually has some metallic in it and the white is actually a cream. Vintage, yet very modern. I think it adds a lot of personality to the otherwise austere bike.

And ha! I got his best work yet on my bike :)

I literally ran across the house when my Blackberry updated me on this thread...I couldn't be more happy with what I found! Nice work guys I really dig it!

Thanks gents. It looks like I have another crazy week in the works with my daughter's competitive soccer and work getting out of control. Note to others. Think real hard before accepting a promotion!

Hopefully, I get get her wheeled out this week for some proper pics. Ideally, I'd like to get both the CL350 and the RD running at the same time. It will be a challenge.

Trials and tribulations

It wasn't too much trouble getting the first color on, took a while to get the orange right and I still wasn't real sure of it:

The graphics are what take the most time,
rd05.jpg

lots of printing, cutting and re printing and re cutting
rd06.jpg

when I had these graphics laid out (they're just printouts taped in place) I let them sit around the office for a few days to make sure I was happy with them.

Unfortunately when I pulled all the tape off... Disaster:

... and I had to start over:

...but it still didn't take:

Hopefully Chris can take some nice detail (non cameraphone) shots of the thing all together. I'd like to put a Loudbike/Rd shoot together too.

Thanks again, Kit.

Hopefully Chris can take some nice detail (non cameraphone) shots of the thing all together. I'd like to put a Loudbike/Rd shoot together too.

As soon as she's up and running, we need to get all the bikes together for a photoshoot. Let me see if I can get some models lined up.

Also, once she's running, let me know if you need to borrow her some evening. I'm sure Nikki will love it :)

Wow - Nice work Kit - really a cool look - well done!

The 76 reminds me of the "spirit of '76" gas stations... not sure if they're around anymore, but it was a big orange gumball just like that - it does give it a cool vintage feel.

Wow, I love it!! Orange over black usually make me think "Halloween," but the orange is just pale enough to look really different and really really sharp!

Great work on the graphics, too!

In your mockup is that side cover on the correct side?

I meant for the scallop to be backward, this was my rendering:

which is not to say that I'm worried about it, still looks good, and I couldn't have put it any other way because of the oil filler afterall.

Yeah, that's the correct side. You probably changed something due to the oil filler. I'll take some more pics tonight. It really does look good!

Looks pretty cool..... It is helping me feel better about painting my own engine black. The black/orange/cream with the trick decals really work good together. Nice work!!!!!!!!!

OK, no pics, but I did get a lot done. In fact, I was very close to filling up the tank and starting the bike. But I waited. I'm off to the hardware store at lunch today to pick up some fasteners, then I'm pretty sure she's ready to start.

I need to cage the excitement and go over the bike one more time checking things like axle tightening, swign arm tightening, etc.

Oh, and I have a wedding in Galviston this weekend, so it will probably be Mon to Tues before any of the fun stuff occurs.
