My 1974 CB360 Brat, eh..

The stator provides power output. Aftermarket stator can usually provide an extra 40W or so. You can upgrade it if you want, but it's not generally a part that's replaced "just because". Figure out out much wattage your bike needs and if it's more than your stock stator can provide, then seek out the upgrade.

So I'm looking at the headlight being 55w with the taillight rating of 23/3w and 4 turn signals at 1.5w each for a total of 84w. I've read that the stock stator has a power output of 110w, so I should be good right?

Actually edit that..... Found this elsewhere...

Coils - about 4 amps or 48 watts
Headlight - 35w = 3amp, 50w = 4 amp
Battery recharge = about 2 amp or 24 watt

LEDs and signals are a little extra, 23/3w for the taillight and 6w total for the signals.

Stock alternator, new, working properly is 130 watts.

So based on everything I would be good, but as a safe bet, would it be better to go to a 35w bulb as it would free up just a little?

Try it and see. Worst case scenario is that your headlight is too bright and you drain the battery down. You can always slap it on the charger while you change out your bulb to something lower wattage.

Thanks Sonreir.

One last question, I noticed that the Shorai site said that the batteries require 13.1v or higher at idle, is the CB360 capable of this or is this something I need to only worry about if the bike is at idle for extended period of times?

Most 360s won't put out that kind of voltage until around 2500 or 3000 RPM. The concern is that you drain the battery while idling. My previous statement about draining the battery to see; that applies to lead acid. You drain a LI-ION and it's dead for good.

I know plenty of 360s running LI-ION though, just don't leave it turned on and running in your driveway for an hour.

Finally bolted more parts on and now she's rolling.

I love it. It's amazing those tires fit.

How did you achieve that finish on the tank?

Thanks! Blasted the tank and then elbow grease with a little grinding. Part of me wants to fit 4.5" tire on the front.

Love it! Makes me feel like I'm moving so slow on mine! Got to get to work

I'm pretty sure things are going to slow down once I dive into the wiring. Honestly the fun part was bolting all the shiny new parts.

What size tires are you running? Also that tank looks great, what grit did you use to get a nice shine?

Tires are 4.00x18 in the front and 4.50x18 in the rear. As for the grit... Pretty sure I didn't go higher then 200, so if you want more shines, as the pictures can be deceiving, go higher then 200, probably go as high as 800 or even 1000.

So I haven't posted in a little bit, but I finally got on it again and am slowly going into the final stretch.

Back to the build!

More Wiring! I know people aren't the biggest fans of these little batteries on these smaller bikes, but I picked the EarthX because it has a built in balance charger, it doesn't require a special charger as well as it has overcharge protection and over discharge protection.... So technically I shouldn't be able to fry this battery.

Honestly, if it was for Sonreir's wise wisdom this bike would have never got wired!
