Well it may not be greener but it will be more metaly-er. I want a metal tank not a fiberglass one. I do dig the CR look and it would be unique..especially around here. I would do something on the tank so it wouldn't be all polished but a combo of paint and polish.
Put some walls around that battery tray bottom, make it look nice, smooth then paint it.. or do quarter walls and add a strap from the sides over the top of the battery.. Get a smaller battery and make above said suggestions but with a smaller, minimal package.. Oh and those pipes are stock 350F pipes with the baffles taken out. It's identical to mine on my 350F sans baffle.
The battery that is in it now is so tall that a fully enclosed box would make it impossible to access. I'm with an AMG battery so I can lay it on it's side and then I can enclose it.
Exhaust paint, flat or satin black? I was going to get the VHT Flame Proof but it only comes in flat black. Dude from the sandblasting place called and said he misquoted me the price...it was supposed to be 60 bucks not 100. Sweeeet!
Alright I'm going with the alloy CR tank. So anyone in need of a very nice 75 400F tank? Decent original paint (red) comes with stock cap and key. No rust! 235.00 Shipped.

I used VHT's ceramic high temp exhaust paint (silver) on the 'oldWing's headers and followed the directions to a "T" even cured it gradually in the oven here at home, sneaking up on 550 degrees. (smoked like hell)
Then the first time I actually ran the engine and got them to operating temp, it blistered and peeled in a couple spots.
This time, after reading up on painting exhaust I used Rustoleums Bar-B-Que Grill paint on the Zooks header. I have only run this bike in the shop so far... for 10 minutes TOPS so take this for what it is worth.... But it seems to be holding up MUCH better! Also, it came out a semi-gloss black. Not "see yourself" gloss but not flat either.
Hope that helps
So I'm removing the battery from the bike and taking measurements for my new battery box when I bump one of the K&N pods...it just falls off. I check the others and only one is actually secured to the carbs. The other two were loose as well and the one had a small gap to the carb. It's a wonder these didn't just fall off when I test rode it and further explains why this thing ran so crappy.
It's becoming more and more apparent that the PO took pretty #$%*ty care of this bike. I'm going to have to do a comprehensive safety check, along with oil/filter/plugs. I doubt if I'll be riding at all before the first of the year.
On another note. After checking on availability of the alloy tank I've decided to put that off till the summer when I'll be parking the bike and tearing it down to have the frame powdercoated. I'm going to go with a more traditional build until then.
Re: My 350F Cafe "Rebuild" Begins *(updated pics)*
Painted the pipes black..thinking of wrapping to the megaphones..whatcha think?
Cleaned up and painted the front brake caliper. Question why does mine have the center bolt? What does it serve?
I drilled the lower triple for new stops and cut off the brake light switch mount as I'm going with a master that has the switch built in.
I cleaned up the corrosion on the fork tubes and they look much better. I was thinking of painting the fork legs black, what kind of paint would work best for the that?
New seat should be here on Tuesday, once I get that fitted the tank and seat will go to the painters.
The piston was previously seized so the calliper was drilled and a bolt or drift was used to push out the piston. But instead of welding up the hole, a bolt was used to seal it up. It's a ghetto fix, I'd get it welded.
