Live, breath, sleep HONDA!
Well here is the short version. Yesterday I re-jetted my carbs, installed them back on the bike with the newly lined fuel tank ($$) then, filled it half way with gas and fired it up. The bike ran beautiful, absolutely perfect, purred like a lion. I had just 10 minutes to take it for a quick test ride up the street and make any adjustments before going to a cub scout benefit dinner with my son. I went up the street and looked down for a minute to adjust the idle control and when I looked up there was a mailbox followed by a 12" concrete retaining wall. Needless to say I took out the mail box and hit the wall which flipped me and the bike, narrowly missing a telephone pole. I tumbled and slid and finally came to a stop about 6 feet from the bike. Gas was everywhere and the bike was still running so I dragged my self away as quickly as possible incase of fire. But the bike shut itself off before that happened. A neighbor called 911 and I was rushed to the hospital, where that found my right femur had punched through my hip and broke my pelvis in 3 places. I also tore a ligament and fractured my knee, not to mention I have road rash mostly on my left side and some head abrasions. I was transfered for surgery at another holiday and had my hip put back together with over 12 screws and a titanium plate. Basically I am very very lucky in so many ways. :-\ but the bike was not so lucky, 2 years of work and less than 100 miles on her and she is totally wrecked. I will post pics when I get them. Guys and gals, take it from me, even on a 5 minute short test ride on your own street always wear a helmet and gear. I'll keep you posted. -MBS
