My first bike '75 cb360

I haven't finished it yet, and frankly am still flip flopping on design due to Sparky giving me electronics ideas.

Here: is a drawing of what I intend to do for access, no hinge the seat will come off entirely. At the front it will be a slip fit and at the back the eBay quick latch, you could do it in the reverse also... this slip fit is how most if not all current MX bikes fit the seat and how we fit the seat on the last CB I did, in fact that seat is a pillion seat and works great.

See if this helps.

Ah, yes, I see. Cheap enough to buy and fool around with to see how they work with our seat scheme. At this point sometimes it's hard for me to picture without having hands on. Learning as I go. And diagrams are super helpful. Thanks!

OP,

I wonder if some builds sorta "scooped" out the underside of their seats to allow clearance. Hard to imagine with how already thin brat seats tend to be. But I wonder how they would manage even with a scooped out bottom if they use big fat awesome firestone tires.

If you google-image "brat motorcycle" you will notice many of them seem to have extended the swing arm in some way and the seat now sits between the tire and the frame. Personally I like this look as I imagine brats as a form of dragster bike so it makes sense to extend the wheelbase but yeah I'm not telling ya what to do with your build so it will be up to you to decide.

Lookin forward to more updates. How easy was it to grind off the extra tabs on your frame? That's pretty much the next thing I have to do and if you don't mind could you let me know what type of grinder and grind wheel you used? Seems like you got good results.

4 1/2 " angle grinder, 80 grit sanding disc and 3m Roloc disc. Harbor freight has grinders on sale http://m.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=4+1%2F2%22+angle+grinder
Roloc are ones shown to the left.

Progress. But set back on my seat due to space issues in the garage. Can't get to the tubing bender until we can move the 47 chevy. Argh!!! But my parts came in so I'll clean my wheels up and put my new tires on.

Yep imho that size firestone looks great on there. Sometimes I think ppl go way to big with the tires and it looks like they are riding on big ol balloons. Killer look my friend, still anxious to see this thing together!

+1 ::)

Hands down the firestones are one of the coolest tires you could put on her. I got a bunch of complements on them.

Started on the seat mount(s) today, I backed off on the slip joint up front because I need a rubber tank strap/hold down so I chose to double use a strap post and seat cap bolt.

this is the bracket that will mount nice and flush under the seat pan with flat top bolts that came with the bracket set:

This the under side, it fits nicely under the cross section:

And finally the front mount post, you can see my tank is old school strap tab, I could remove them but I like the dang thing like it is.

Coming along nicely. And I wouldn't mess around with trying to remove those tabs either. Gives it character. I'm at a stand still at the moment. Still trying to dig out to install our tubing bender and think I need to order a die for it. :-/ hopefully I can get into it next weekend. Look forward to seeing when you get you're finished.

Thanks, I'm super happy with how they look and I think are proportioned well for the bike. Now getting the damn tires on and off, that's a whole other story... Hah.

Not sure yet. We're going with a pretty stripped down look. Probably no fender.

This it was a gentlemans attempt at telling you to run the brace or both. the little CB really is squirrely without and why the fender bracket/brace is such a heavy chunk. you could paint it:

Oh. I see. thanks. That would still allow for the look I'm going for. I wasn't sure what the brace was exactly, was going to look it up. But you did it for me.

To all of you who are so extremely concerned about my safety... I plan to tool around town on this bike, I'll be lucky if I take it over 45. If we get it together and feel anything is "unsafe" while riding we can always change it. But I already purchased the tires, love how they look and want to try them out. I thought we covered this already. Other than a couple of opinions, is there some sort of statistic you can refer me to of the amount of serious injuries or deaths caused by using these tires? Just curious.

I rode on them for 2 years and live to tell the tale... ;)
What do they say in the movies?...sometimes fashion is pain.
