Oh, so that's what was wrong with your bike? You could not get it to run because of the battery issue? A lot of guys that try to run like that on the xs650's face the same issue, they want to make the bike, kick start only but they have to swith their alternator to a "permanent magent alternator" so they can run a smaller sealled battery or capacitor.. Most guys get one from another bike to fit into theirs. I don't know what kind would fit into yours. but I'm sure someone has already done it. the way they work is like lawn mowers do, you pull the start cable, and the PMA creates the voltage needed to send spark to the motor. However on a motorcycle you still need to run lights etc, so you will still need a voltage rectifier/regulator. or you will fry your electronics and or blow your battery.
