Great work bro..

Why didn't u cover ur carbs or the engine? The dust might enter those carbs. :-\

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

I just love the striped rat look, if "Jimmy D" or "Kurt C" were still alive they'd have rat bikes. The gloss of the tank just sets it off ;D, In OZ the "law" are tuff on bikes so we have to try and maintain the look, with out getting to much attention, in my state the fender must cover the tyre to 45deg out the back AND finish aft of the tyre :( so the fender-less race look is hard to achieve.

Oh are you going to replace he rear seat hump? Cos it provides strength for the frame from the loads from the shocks and helps stop the frame twisting, you really need to tie the shock tops together. This is what i did on "project $$" :) :).

Or Or ;D ;D this is another frame which I supported frame just above the swing arm and the other frame gussets were replace with heavy wall (3mm) tube

Run a tape over the rear frame to make sure that it's still square, if the bike has had a hard life the frame may be under load, so when you remove the gussets the load is released and the frame can "spring" out of alignment. I have an old (true) lathe bed that i fix the frame to before i do any cutting, i can then check the frame alignment as i go.
Trying not to sound preachy ::)

looks like you have a prethera of nissans! are they all yours? lucky lucky man. wish my garage had random 240 fenders here and there. i assume those are your spares for when you DONT hit the wall/obstacles?

oh... seat looks great too! haha. cant wait to see more!

i wish they were all mine, the RHD silvia (silver) is my buddies and the vert is my coworkers, pics were taking at my job importintelligence.com were we build alot of drift cars but anything import really....mostly turbo......... ??? idea! i should turbo my bike!
i really shouldnt show you my boss's new drift ride for the 09 season we are working on now but i cant help myself........
IMG_01671.jpg

another member on he did the cage and now shes almost twin turboed, might not seem to crazy and "its been done" but this is a 2008 nismo 350z and there are no turbo kits for it yet so the twin throttle bodies pose a new challenge....but we already hurtled that one. i'll ask the boss if i can post more pics.

Coming along nicely! That 350 is sweet.
thanks, yeah i wish it was my new ride for the 09 season but i'll be very happy in 09 on my 450

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

Dude, if you can build the back half of the exhaust like that, why are you fucking around with the stock front half? Personally, I'd make the whole thing from scratch and leave the welds exposed. Just my opinion, but it's kinda like the fat guy with the hot wife: half of the combo looks really good.

Just be sure to keep the welds nice and tidy.

haha this is true, but remember im on a very very tight (ghetto) budget. i havent even paid off the $90.00 of SS tubing i just used + the chop saw blades. boss man hasnt charged me for welding wire or gas.....yet lol

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

Understood. Did you really cut those bits with a chop saw? Or did you mean a bandsaw?

LOL, Chris, what ever happened to " under seat exhaust is unnecessary"... keep up the good work Derek

Re: my ghetto ass winter redo 73' CL450

I'm just commenting on the fabrication, not the actual shape of the thing...but to be honest, it's growing on me :)
