I have resorted to using a test light instead of a multimeter for this reason.
I get super pissed when its reading like 11.9v somewhere and I know there's some sort of duck up causing voltage drop etc it bothers me. So I go with the " if the lights on its perfect" method.

I feel your pain bro. I spent 3 Day trying to make everything on my XS work. Well 2 1/2 yelling at the bike and trow'n shit and 1/2 a day with a friend that knew what the fuck he was doing. He made it look so easy that I almost wanted to kill him. There is so much extra BS stuff on those bikes that is not necessary . I ended up eliminating just about all the stock components and used stuff from newer bikes basically started from scratch. If I can help let me know.
You are at the point where the bike appears to be about 98% complete and yet the details take way longer than you might imagine. Taking care of details is what makes the difference between a fast reliable bike and an unreliable POS. Take your time. You're on the home stretch.
Justinlonghorn aka the wife stealing son of a bitch was nice enuff to take a evening to help finish up some last min fab work. We managed to get this bike starting on the first kick so hopefully it stay that way. We also made a tag braket brake light combo thats preety neat. I had some walmart trailer sidemarker light that were the correct size and justin put a flexable red led strip around the inside so the brakes turn on a halo of leds light.
