Sucks about the kicker. Hopefully the part ain't a bitch to find. Watch out refitting that retaining ring too I would prob grab a new one they usually end up a bit loose after you take em off once, esp old ones.

Which ones the retaining ring :p the parts are easy to find on ebay and a few overseas places have each individual piece available

It's not broke wtf are you talking about?? Gift horse... Mouth... Don't look

that ones not the same as mine, mine extends further and I think it stops the kicker from kicking me not 100% sure but now that I know xb is a engine/parts hoarder I will be going to him for something else i'm sure

i would not offer up a part that wont fit ;)
its easy to verify most parts ,i didn't need to on this one cause yamaha ran with the tt500 from day 1 very few changes at all

Yeah I looked but I was at work so my screen was minimized. I got a chance to look better but I was in a rush to order and want sure :/...

Do you know if that extended piece is what stops the lever from kicking back?

what is kicking back ? kicking back is commonly a term when the engine dont like your tecknique and it hurts you or tries .is that what you speak of ?
but yeah i think that one i have on the bench is broke i have 2 more donor lumps over in the costco tent where cats piss
lemme know if you want one thats is of course an unbroke one

yeah that's what I was talking about the kicker shooting back up and smackin your leg. nah I have this thing on the way right now but im glad to know you have all the spare engine pieces I could ever need! and im planning on getting my proper kick starting procedure down now....

what would I need to do to figure out how much chain slack I need, I have the manual I can follow that but the shocks are .5 longer than stock.

buy a snake for the cats

Mid-point, bottom chain - push up. Distance between slack and no slack should be about 1.5" on a street bike. Dirt bikes are as much as 2".

Thank you!

Should I stick with street even if I will bring it off road every once n a while, nothing serious just fuckin around on trails

that isnt nearly enough 1.5
with the longer shocks ,iit will be more
pull off the shocks and observe what happensd to the chain tension when you swing the swingarm
3 axis in a straight line is the tight point c/s swingarm spindle and rrear axle
adjust it so mthat when it ois at the straight line it has minimasl slack
then once you put the shocks bak on you can observe how loose it is and write down or something
my guess is 2-1/2 - 3"
you will proly want a tensioner like off an xt or tt its gonna be a bit slappy, see
but i thought they nwere longer than 1/2 more anyway it is a very good lesson to do the simple observaytion i an promoting
snakes ? ee gad
what if the snakes want to sting my eye ?? rubber neck !!

There's a reason they put a chain guide near the rear sprocket on dirtbikes...

The chain is actually guided into both sprockets

Why the hell are we talking about tensioners and chain guides? This is a street bike with boots. There is no need for any of it. It's at least 100lbs overweight and doesn't have nearly the suspension of a dirt bike.. Go by the manual for chain slack and be done with it. 2.5" or whatever is ridiculous.
