New Mexico XS 650

Very Nice. Whats the deal with your center stand. Does it hold the bike off the ground or just enough to keep it from falling over?

Cloyd it works great, I cut it and drilled it and fit it so it just keeps the rear wheEl off the ground by about 3/4 of inch on pavement. My driveway is loose gravel so it appears lower than it is.

Nice very nice. My all time favorite bike. Love those XS750 fuel tanks. I've used them on Xs650's, Virago's and even a Honda CB650.
Jim these are nice stock tanks. As a matter of fact I was at the local boneyard and I stashed another one for a future project to come.

Awesome - would love a closeup of the damper mount on the frame. Were you able to use the stock frame gusset to mount the damper? My '72 frame has smaller gussets that don't reach as far down I think.

Did you use the 650Central spin-on oil filter setup? Been thinking about that kit.

You know the tank decals, are they just standard vinyl cut? Did you clear coat the tank afterwards?
Cheers
Al

Tim yes i did. it was a nice piece, easy to install make sure you take the casting off the sides of the adapter as needed so it centers up in the original filter hole as best as possible. Have yet to put fluids through it so time will tel how it functions.........but it sure looks nice pokin out the side :D

Thanks tiki. yes those are the 5" decals you can buy all day long on ebay for 3.99 free ship. They applied and clear coated nicely.

what tires are those? they look super awesome!
foundation, I am an ebay junkie. They were brand new off ebay 160.00 for the set. They are shinko 230
110 front 140 rear. They will be just fine for my street riding and occasional off ramp romping.

LOVE THIS BIKE. Well done my man. Really interested in how she handles the twisty roads.
Thanks Mike, we shall see how things go. I may be putting a true mono shock swing arm on. If nothing else I sure have a PURTY parts go gettin scooter.....I may have to put a basket on the front end!

Back at it...had a bad TCI box.....go figure. Got her wired up nicely and the new pamco took care of all of my electrical issues. Sparked her off today. She sounded great, but was dumpin oil out of the clutch rod seal. I replaced it, but must have Fd it up.......no wonder mikes xs says buy 2. Another week off the pavement until my seals come in....oh well.
