Firstly, aren't you glad you have a 350 and not a 500 or larger.. would be a little tougher to lift it into that Honda. Bikes coming along now. Dont hate on your welds. When I first started, my welds looked like "bird shit"; as my instructor called it...
"We put a brand new crated up 612 V12 engine in that thing once, lol." << OH. MY. GOD.. hahahhahah!!
definitely! Came in handy. I dont miss my pickup truck as much anymore!
So a shiny new petcock showed up, so that is good to go. I also received a pair of small rectifiers from digikey.com (3 bucks!!) to replace the giant stock rectifier.
CL tank is fugly! I put the CB tank on and it just works! too bad it has pinholes dents and just ugly.
Started thinking about a battery box, and realized under the cowl may take more time than it is worth right off the bat.
Stumbled upon an almost IDEAL box....
Nearly perfect width too! fits between the rear frame....
however I'll probably mount in lengthwise between the rails.
Soooo I'm back to scrapping that battery box Idea ^^^^. It doesnt quite fit between the frame rails forward of the brace I welded in. Back to figuring out a batt box under the cowl.
I made up a way simpler wiring harness for the bike. No Starter, No Horn, No Blinkers, and just a kill switch on the bars.
Started test fitting the harness:
After getting lengths well sorted, I started the heat-shrinking process....
In most areas it is one layer of heat shrink around the wires, and then a woven/braided sleeve. Waiting on headlight bucket and mounts....
It's coming along...
Slick harness!
Managed to hide brake switch, neutral indicator, and alternator wires in the backbone/downtube. Terminated with insulated bullet terminals.
I have a 7" headlight bucket coming from another DTT member, so I went rummaging through my parts.... and what did I find? an NOS euro Cibie H4 housing that was leftover from a Porsche project! This should work nicely in that bucket...
I'm also not planning to use the stock large 4 wire rectifier any longer, but got this 50 amp rectifier from Digikey.com
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MP5005-BP/MP5005-BP-ND/1990336
Its about the size of a half dollar, so I can easily hide it under the cowl.
Anyone have suggestions on replacing the stock voltage regulator?
Quick question and maybe i missed it earlier in the thread....what is the center spacing on those clubmans? Did you need to buy the extra wides to clear the tank? Love the way you finished off the CL pipes btw, cant decide if i want to balogne cut mine into a triangle or finish them off with tips. Also did you look into ceramic coating? I am having trouble finding a place that will give me a quote before i ship them out. Definitely keeping an eye on this project!

I got the bars off ebay for ~30 bucks. I think I'm going to go to clip ons.... I want to say these were standard width clubmans. I'll have to go look for my receipt/auction to find wthe center spacing.
Ceramic coating is $$$$. Didnt look into it for this project. I've gotten quotes for car headers before and still, loads of $$$
Did you check the clearance between your battery box and the tire? Hard to tell in the picture if it will be sufficient. Just something to think about. You will want to check it under load (spring compression).

I bought the 'dirt track' license plate kit from omarsdtr.com (http://www.omarsdtr.com/manxnew6.html). It fit the shock bolt great, but my CA plate didnt line up for piss!!!
Turns out... its designed for the one oddball licenseplate in the states - MINNESOTA!!!
interesting info on 50 state plate sizes http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-news/2009/motorcycle-license-plate-dimensions.htm
Anyway - as you can see... it sucked. 1 hole is all that would line up.
at work this morning, I drew up a CA sized back plate up in CAD, and had it laser cut at lunch time. Made a spare for a buddy (or in case i F it up). made out of 14 gauge to be a bit burlier...
another look at the 70 dollar Omarsdtr kit.... :-X 16-18 gauge.
Slide the new plate in from behind, and use the light studs to secure it for now.
aaaand voila! A good fitting narrower plate mount.
I do plan to come back and weld this plate in from the back side. Right now it's fairly secure, and has a nice 3 dimensional aspect to it. A little weld, a little paint and it's off to the races.
Most of this started when I complained to my buddy about the kit. He came up with this rendering... narrowed to CA plate width with a hint of sarcasm...
